Just started to play Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana with PCSX2.

I don't think I should be getting fps drops with an i5 and a HD 6870 in hardware mode.
In software mode the speed is okay but the text is pretty much unreadable.
I didn't have any problems with AT1 and AT2.
I'm not sure what should I do.
Can someone help me ?

Free Mcboot is a custom firmware that you install on a memory card. If you remove the card it'll boot default firmware. No breaking involved, besides possibly removing the cover of your PS2's disc tray.

Once installed you just have to patch your ISOs, burn them to a disc and you're good to go. There are tutorials here which detail a number of installation methods.

Unless you have an Action Replay disc handy the easiest way to install it is to grab a second hand copy of 007: Agent Under Fire and follow this guide http://freemcboot.info/swap.html..
Oh and no, it wont damage your save files, but I'd advise you to install it to a new memory card because it takes up a lot of space. Something like 4+ MB if I recall correctly.

Burning and patching is easy. You download a java App, load the ISO, hit "patch" and then use something like ImgBurn to burn the patched ISO to a disc.

Just follow the guides on that website carefully and you'll have no trouble.

Another thing to note with 3 is that unlike 1 and 2, where each phase was its own story arc with an epic climax, 3's good parts are back-loaded. So phases 1 and 2 "okay" and then you get to Clustania in phase 3 and the game begins its rapid ascent into awesome.

savestates tend to get screwed with updates since they change how the kernel thing works.

ingame saves are in memory card files, change the folder it points to in the emulator to where you keep your old cards.

The Ar Tonelico games are still in every meaning of the word, proper Galge. Galge and Eroge are still /jp/.

I started playing Ar Tonelico and its fucking glorious.

However I have a problem with the second game.
Everything sounds great, only the voices sound...bad.
I'm using a modchip so it can't ne plugins for the emulator.

Any tips? Lowering the bar for voice seems to help, but it still does not sound very good.
I did not have this problem with AT1.

Not sure if it can be seen well but I made a screenshot of my settings.

I'd rather play on my PS2 because it is more convenient.

The cable goes out from my TV to a "converter", sorry don't know the english word.
And my headsets are plugged into this converter.

There are no speakers. Thats probably the reasons. I can't change the volume etc. even though that was no problem until now. Guess AT2 does not like it.

My brother is an audiophile, and he recommended me the Audio Technica ATH-AD700's I use now. The bass isn't that strong, but at the mid and high ranges that Ar Tonelico music usually hits, the audio quality is perfect.

When I'm feeling indulgent, I also have a small subwoofer I turn on to compensate for the lower ranges.

But that's where you are wrong.
They developed the game first and foremost as a galge, and marketed it as such. The interactions with the girls and their stories is the top priority, and the RPG elements have been tacked in to accommodate that, not the other way around.

If you ever played through the games this should be blatantly obvious. Over 50% of them is also purely in its entirety in a VN format, with 100% of the game being a full blown galge with various heroines and routes.
Heck, Akira Tsuchiya is even making the next game as an outright girl raising/care-taking simulator.

People just assume it doesn't belong because they don't even know what they are talking about, nor cares enough to learn.

(And I think that the "insight" of her past is more interesting then Lucas - you'll understand once you reach Gaia)

If it makes you feel better, AT3's gameplay is really dogshit. It's bearable in the early phases but as soon as phase 4 hits, everything has a million hp and the game becomes a shitty tales game without staggering so it's just pressing square until you can flipshere. Over and over. In Clustania's blue maze. Over and over. Also the background music(Not the hymnos or cosmosphere music) is pretty shitty too.

I don't think you'd miss out on anything by watching it instead of playing. I think you might actually be making gains.

Not really. The number of mistranslations, typos and general errors in AT2 is disturbingly high so you're not exactly getting the best experience from the game. The characters act completely different, the terminology is wrong in many places, lots of dialogue wasn't even translated etc. You can still play the game without an issue but it's just that a lot of it is wrong. So wrong in fact that fans are doing a fan translation of the game instead, I think that should tell you something.

Well it is a spoiler so...

Cocona will perfom hymmnos which works the same way METHOD_REPLEKIA/. did;

She connects to Infel Phira (and thus the Revytails of Metafalss) and redirects some of its' power to the third tower.

In this scene you get to see the silhouette Infel Phira for a brief moment.

This is also the very first time that Cocona performs hymmnos, and additionally the only hymmnos in AT Qouga written in 'New Testament of Pastalie' dialect.

And as a little trivia again:
For this whole operation a certain satellite was used.
A certain satellite which was build by a certain young genius shop owner.

So if you read through all of Sasha's dialogues in AT2 (especially in the later parts of the game) you will surely be pleased by the progress she made.
