>>8597235
it's subtle, but there are a lot of things i notice, like your execution/pressure improving (not to mention all those air grabs you landed on me). i know it's frustrating to come away with a shit ton of losses, but there's more to it than the win counter.

and if you don't mind me asking, how much experience do you have with fighting games in general?

>> No.8597278

>>8597253
my experience in 2d fighters is very minimal, just killer instinct and smash bros, melee, and brawl (lol).

in 3d fighters, i've played quite a bit more, soul calibur 1-3, tekken 1-4, doa and vf a little too. but nothing too much recently.

>> No.8597327

>>8596584
that makes a lot of sense then. even though i'm still not too familiar with this game, i come from a fairly hefty background in 3s, so my fundamentals carry over pretty well.

i think that with enough time behind the wheel you'll start to get really comfortable. but don't forget that it isn't just about playing matches, it's about understanding what happens during them. you should go and watch some replays of our matches to see what trips you up and why.

also do more overheads and throws. seriously.

>> No.8597375

>>8597327
you say throws, but, they're only really good once you get someone to respect your pressure. and you don't, at all. like, basically after my one shitty unstaggered blockstring is over, you just 2c out every time and i don't really know how to stop that yet. sometimes 236a catches you, sometimes it doesn't, it depended on the character you were using.

as far as overheads, well yeah, i can't argue there, but as i've said before, the only overheads i have that are practical are jb and jc, and jb is extremely hard to hitconfirm into a combo. i even have a hard time hitconfirming in a real match. and, i used to spam the shit out of jc but i've stopped doing that because i feel like it gives up too many counterhits because even though it does a lot of damage it's not really a good air to air move.

so, the only two overheads i have require a jump in, and jump ins pretty much telegraph an overhead. and before i even have the option of doing a jump in i have to get you to respect my blockstrings. so my actual areas of improvement are more like "you need to do everything better."

this is 3 hours late, but...
i usually stick to downback whenever i'm blocking, and i'm also not too keen on mashing 2A, so there's actually a good chance you could get a throw in if you're fast enough (granted, akiha doesn't really seem suited for that type of thing, but it's still something to keep in mind.)
as for the overheads, jumping normals are a fundamental part of wakeup mix-up in melty. you could do 1.) j.C, 2.) j.C xx airdash j.C, 3.) j.nothing into 2A or some other crazy shit akiha might be capable of (like what's that move where she lays down the flame carpet or whatever? could you do a j.C into that, forcing me to block?)

the most important thing is to stay unpredictable, and as you play right now, i know that i can expect exactly two things on wakeup. 1.) 2A, or 2.) nothing.
if you threw in 3.) overheads or even 4.) throws, i would have to do a whole lot more guessing when you start pressuring me.

Wait, someone else is trying to play H-Akiha now? I've been trying to figure out her best general purpose BnB. On my own, like a real man. I really like her x6AAA[2B][5B]Bx for style points in using two blowbacks in a row, but I'm pretty sure that's not the best for damage because of all the reverse beats.
That's the only major problem I have though besides her head skimming crossups resulting in her attacking the wrong direction for some reason.

That's low-below average tier. Not you lol. If you can reliably execute pretty much whatever you want more than 50% of the time, you're easily well above average. Please request games as such so bad players like me can avoid getting raped by something they thought was close in skill.

can't get this to connect at all. [2b] is not a charge move in the first place, so i don't really know why you'd have it in brackets. but it doesn't link at all with [5b] unless you *don't* charge it.

however, the normal easy bnb (which is the combo i use, because i'm not really at the point where the best way to improve my game is through practicing long combos) is 2aa5c6c4c6aaa2c5[b]b jbc jc2c.

i've been working really hard at attaching the 236b okizeme to the end of my aerials, which i've been finally able to do a few times in real games.

Strange, since most of the people I play who claim to be "shit tier" get stomps because they mash buttons. I remember when I had no idea how to combo and someone pointed me to learning BnBs. I know what they are now, but can't execute them with any reliability. But being able to BnB 10-25% of the time is still enough to take down a lot of the players who don't do it at all. If I have a win rate of like 90% versus those kinds of people, I generally wouldn't put myself in that tier. Ash, one trick I'm surprised you never do is using 236B on knockdown to set up a flame ring overhead. If they duck under it, you can just step up and throw them, or better yet, command throw them into a combo. Obviously can be poked out of, but it's a setup that can't just be blocked and waited out of. I'd say work on her command through a little more. You were able to catch me with her normal throw often enough, but that's not much damage and certainly little meter for you.

Also, command throw is significantly slower than normal throw, and FSAki's damage is not great without sacrificing oki. It's not really a viable mixup until I can get the fear of the 214A/B/ring pressure mixups.

>> No.8598982

>>8598982
I'm not sure who you are or how many rounds I played against you with FSAki, but I have a number of mixups that are not mashable. If you were the CRyougi, then it didn't even matter since you would randomly bunker them when I wasn't even close, and then eat jC. If you were the one playing during the terrible lag spikes, well, I couldn't even link jC to 5B without getting mashed out, and my pressure strings are not at fault.

You have two options. One's kind of retarded and the other one implies you already have it down.

First one is to set it to random blocking and hope your first hit gets blocked and the 2nd one doesn't. Kinda retarded.

Second one is to pick your character in training mode as p2. With the dummy recording, record your fuzzy setup, play it back and try to block it.

gonna use that desync as a break to finish my shitty english work

btw, does your game always run at 60fps locally? it seems like things get a little laggy whenever my combos get going.

>>8602066
GGs, yeah no software lag but I've noticed that occasionally as well. That's part of the reason I switch moons - full has a much tighter bnb and I've noticed a bit of the same thing. I always drop everything anyways, so I'm not sure why I bother but hey.

Was fun up until my game decided to randomly drop from solid 60 to 20-45 randomly after the 50th-odd match. I guess too many projectiles, who knows. I still have no idea how the new characters work and half of my old ones had things changed about them and oh god I am bad now.

gg. Fun matches with Ryougi. Is Ries your main? I like to play around with alot of the characters.
