I'm happy WA2 is getting a translation project, but sad that it is through Baka-Tsuki. I don't know how to feel.

>> No.8719124

WA2 is a drama heavy romance game with betrayal and tears. It also has an unusual structure, with two large time skips.

It's a great game mainly because of the very good writing, which creates a realistic cast of characters who do terrible things to each other for plausible reasons. They have psychological complexity and depth.

I fully expect it to be translated terribly into english, and get a reputation as a piece of shit soap opera with completely unlikable characters.

>which creates a realistic cast of characters who do terrible things to each other for plausible reasons

I... really can't say I feel a particular need for any more of that. If I stayed away from western writing and cinema, maybe, but it doesn't really sound like something particularly original or interesting.

It stops being about high school after introcutory chapter, it timeskips into university and later on main cast have jobs as second timeskip.

>> No.8719173

>>8719135
Chiaki is just playing the emotionless artist to hide her awkwardness as a human being, if you can't sympathize with her a little by the end of the route you didn't really understand what was going on in her head.

The only time I really hated any of the characters was Haruki, in Mari's route, where he is truly a complete mess of a human being.

Although his judgmental-ass friends in Kazusa True came very close to pissing me off. But you know where they were coming from.

>> No.8719183

they didn't finish Clannad neither Tomoyo After,so why do they still bother if they will probably drop this eventually...

>> No.8719189

>>8719149
The premise is relationship drama, which is really basic, but it's done really well. The high-school part is the introduction, the majority of the game is when they're in college and adults.

WA2 stands out for realism and strong emotional impact. The characters are not unlikable, they're actually quite sympathetic because they're well-written.

>> No.8719190

>>8719173
What it's going through Chiaki's head really doesn't negate teh actions she took in her route mad enough to make me wish Haruki would just rape her on the spot
>But you know where they were coming from.
Obviously, Haruki, from anyone's point of view, was in the wrong there. Takeya tried to understand him and if he could have given him any other answer that wasn't I chose Kazusa over Setsuna out of pity because her mother is dying he wouldn't have been so against it, but Haruki really argue back.

>>8719190
I don't think that's true, the good thing about this game is that every conflict has two defensible sides.

A friend breaking up with a serious girlfriend is not a completely unheard of thing, the guy's being honest to his feelings for once instead of letting circumstances push him around, and his friends react like he's literally murdered a baby. They're so attached to this idea of the Haruki and Setsuna couple from the very start that they seem to have lost perspective and made their friendship dependent on their beliefs about the way things should work out.

They're a group/wiki that collectively puts out subpar after subpar translations. Probably because most of the core 'translators' there don't know Japanese and are either playing the telephone game with Chinese translations or are badly editing machine translations.

Sure, there's a chance that they might for once turn out something with an iota of actual effort and talent. Anything's possible. It's probably about the same chance that you're going to find the next Michaelangelo by browsing Deviantart.

Aroduc wants to do his own superscript version if we go by his Xross post. That's what creates the problem most likely. Or maybe not.

http://tenka.seiha.org/2011/04/the-burden-of-being-perfect/
>Back to reality. Some tools were discovered that could unpack Duel Savior’s script with a little poking. Wonder of wonders, there were also tools that could decompile the PS2 port’s script. The two had a basically identical format, so if the resources of the PS2 version could be pulled out as well, all those added bonuses (one route being expanded to include one of the best (routeless) characters, better VAs, and a voiced MC) could be added in as well. Well, there are some weird changes too, like "boobs" changed to "breasts" and Taiga’s goal being a harem of women from ages 9-29 instead. I’m not sure that’s an improvement. *ahem* Anyway, with a little help, things seemed to repack just fine too, so I strongarmed a coder into working on a way to combine the PS2 and PC scripts to create one superscript and he appeared to succeed.
>About that time, I finished chapter 1 of the superscript, inserted it, and started testing things. That was when I learned that any change… ANY CHANGE AT ALL, messed with the internal indexing and crashed things. Any conditional statement, any skipped lines, any changes, and the whole thing explodes when it hits that. Since the game has an exploration phase like Galaxy Angel where you can do things in basically any order, that’s kind of a massive issue. Of course, this doesn’t happen until almost the end of chapter 1, so my early tests were all for naught. People poked and prodded at it, but couldn’t solve the problem. I brought it up when I made the Moonlit Lovers post, but nobody bit either. And thus the the Duel Savior project has basically come to an ignomious end.

Here's how the Baldr Force tool on TLWiki disassembles the scripts. It roundtrips correctly as long as you don't make any changes, so I'm relatively confident it's not losing anything or adding garbage. The problem I believe is in the header information that has the labels marking locations in the script that it will later call for go-to statements. I don't think that Force has those headers, and I know that Sky has them in a different format. I think they need to be split out on disassembly like Sky's tools do with some kind of marking so that they can be updated to point to the right place on reassembly. When they're just left as they are, they're absolute pointers to an incorrect spot in the script and as you can see, there's a lot of stuff getting pre-loaded and then executed which will fuck things up if you just step into the middle of it.

Looks suspiciously similar to BGI asm. But then again, all stack-based machine asm is not much different.

You appear to be talking about true control flow analysis (like IDA). Our integrated analysis framework has that capability. However, just looking at that fragment it seems more like only the data offsets need to be changed.

>> No.8736592

>>8736469
No, he doesn't. Cudder is adamant about never creating an executable or standalone tool for anything he works on because that would remove him from being able to claim credit for it. He acts like it's some Herculean labor to create a standalone executable that no translator could ever be smart enough to know how to use or find someone who could either tell them how to use it or even just set up a batch command. Instead he thinks that working either through his shitty ReTrans Interface™ (Powered by Ajax!) or just e-mailing him every single individual script is the easier solution. If the translators proved themselves to be idiots that needed that kind of coddling, maybe he'd have a point, but claiming the same people you expect to spend months of skilled effort on a game to be gibbering retards incapable of at absolute most installing a programming environment is insulting. In before FH4, who is a gibbering retard, but not a translator.

TL;DR
Cudder won't do anything unless he gets 100% credit for it and claims that translators are too retarded to know how to use executables to try to convince others of that.

Well, little girl, it so happens that I'm in a similar situation (being poor in my mother tongue is a pain when meeting the relatives), so I had a go at that. It seems that even when running in Chinese locale, both AGTH and ITH have issues dealing with Chinese and just spew out random Japanese characters. Which is strange because I remember being able to use AGTH to properly hook the text from Fate/stay night Chinese version a while back, maybe it is related to the fact that F/SN CN could run in Applocale Chinese while BS requires proper Chinese locale.

I suppose you could use www.nciku.com to write characters and look them up. Is there some method to input Chinese using a mouse in IME like there is with Japanese IME and kanji?
