Really? I haven't played the newer games, but I always thought Tamriel was pretty interesting. I never played Arena, but I loved reading the books in Daggerfall because you had this huge world full of political intrigue and scandals and mythology. Even moreso in Morrowind, because I was more patient then and some of the stuff (mushroom towers, steampunk dwarves, everything is elves) really appealed to me.

I haven't played Oblivion, but I was upset Cyrodiil wasn't a jungle. I thought that was kind of a neat idea, but I can see how it might have caused problems.

Tribes:Ascend just got out of beta, it's being slowly accepted as an e-sport though. The devs are really promoting it as such.

First tournament had a prize pool of $2500, second one is $10000 + best teams get flown to the finals.

I don't intend to play on that level though, it's just that it's INFINITELY more fun playing a team game with an organized group of people rather than a bunch of scrubs in pubs.
