You know, what of the things I liked about .Hack games was when you put in a code you went off in to some remote region. All around you were signs that a great civilization was there. You want to play with English players, there's a simple method. TALK to them, I see too many posts of people saying they are just sitting and waiting, what good will that do? There ARE English players running around block 42 and 44 of ship 4, they just don't go around spamming nonstop. Common courtesy you know.
See someone with an English name? Ask them if they are HG or part of an English guild or whatever, I've had several people not of /jp/ ask me that already.

At least TRY to put some effort in looking for people, not just sitting and waiting. It's a game and we're playing it too, not just sitting around waiting for you.
You can also use the Vision console (the "?" one) and add people as friends even when they are not logged on.
Select the 4th option then the first, type in the name of the person. Click okay then select the name from the list and choose the second last option.

This can be blamed partially on Sega. Basically, NPCs give you special items depending on the number of times you've completed a mission with S Rank while bringing them along. You can maximize this by bringing all the NPCs you can.

This feature discourages party play, it encourages people to fill up party gaps with NPCs just so that they don't waste an S-Rank run.

I do this, though that's mostly because I've been pissing around doing matter board/low level forest quests that really aren't worth partying up for so far. Once I get further into the game I'll be partying up with people more. The default key for locking on is Q. You can actually change the way lock-on works in the options (press to toggle or hold to stay locked). You should also use the elevator to go to the outside plaza and get the matterboard for story progression. Long answer: The differences between races and stats are about 40 points at max level. If you really want to min/max then the simple rule is Male Cast has best S-ATK, Female Cast has best R-ATK, Newmans have the best T-ATK, Humans have all-around good stats. Females stereotypically have higher T-ATK and R-ATK ratings than males, who have higher HP and S-ATK.

Pretty much every range takes Weak Bullet because holy shit that thing is awesome.

As for the rest, you can either fully spec into weak bullet for more shots and less cooldown, or go for more damage. I can already tell you the poison and upper traps are completely worthless.

Thats the best bet, at most i'll need two mags, one for my ranger and another with lots of S-ATK because I plan on doing melee-FO because its fun.

I guess a full Ability mag would be safe for all characters, if you like high crit rate and minimum damage, also from what I hear it increases the potency of status effects but don't quote me on that one.
