Its crowded, hundreds of people, there will be bumps, nudges, shoves, and general nasty unwashed nerd odor hovering everywhere. You'll get caught walking between photo ops, accidental photos. If you wear even the slightest semblance of a costume or related clothing people are going to hunt you down to talk to you or even take your picture. Friend of mine got tackled by a small girl just because he was wearing a deadpool t-shirt.

If you can't handle people, don't go. All in all they are pretty terrible places, but have good merchandise if you know how to haggle.

I found out there are two conventions in Oklahoma. I was surprised because I figured there'd be zero. I imagine they have barely anyone going to them. I looked at the web sites for each one because I thought I might go at some point to introduce mahjong to folks, but after reading the rules for both conventions it seemed too strict.

And they can't sell porn because, apparently, porn is illegal here in Oklahoma. I never knew of this. Do they sell porn at other conventions? I've never been to one so I don't know. The rules also said people can't wear sexual or revealing costumes. I thought people did that at every convention though.

Everything was also pretty overpriced, but I was kinda expecting that.

That said I liked the costumes. Cosplay is pretty impressive in person. I also bought a copy of a movie called Cat Soup there and it was awesome.

OP, if you really wanted to check one out I would say go for it. Everyone who goes is triple autistic. If you said "Have a nice day" to someone at the beginning of your trip, the "y-you too"s would probably still be spreading through the crowd by the time you left.

I wanted to visit a convention after seeing pictures from last year - they had cool merch that I wanted. In the end, I never went. I can never go to one of those.
Problem is, I don't know anyone outside the internet, and the place is full of loud kids. I would just walk around, too scared and anxious to buy anything, surrounded by energy drink-fueled weeaboos.
It's better to order stuff online.
