I have been thinking of a new character design for the Captain Meido. Darker navy blue corset vest, tactical gloves and a shorter haircut. Basically something that reflects the old meido growing more resolute and practical minded. Her eyes are more tired, but the lines show experience.

Was thinking of one of those cute clinical eyepatches, but it might have been too much. Just throwing ideas here.

You're in good company then. A good chunk of 2D "artists" only draw little animu girls in static rehearsed positions, swapping only hairstyles and color palettes til the end of their drawing "careers", never venturing out of their safe zones.

A lot of people with ASDs are very creative. Savant talents aren't restricted to maths or trains. Music and art are quite common talents for autistic people, because they follow identifiable (and often quantifiable) patterns in various ways.
Obviously things from scratch (particularly humans and faces) may be tricky, but what about things like drafting? If Wrong Planet is anything to go by, there are a lot of autistic drafters. Not just boring technical diagrams, but also things like architecture and room designs.

This shit takes years, though.

Anyway, you don't need to go outside - you can instead draw from reference photos, AND find some objects inside your house to practice with.

The skill ceiling is infinite and even with bottom-tier copycat animu skills you can have cheap laughs and impress weeaboos at deviantart.
If that's what the aspiring artist wants, then go for it. No need to impress guys like the one I quoted if all you want to do is have a little fun drawing cute girls.

Drawing is like learning guitar. It's easy to learn a few chords and impress your non-musician friends in a few weeks but if you desire more than that it's an endless uphill battle.

The problem with "manga guides" is that they're never in-depth and usually go something like "This is how you draw kawaii sugoi anime eyes" with steps from 1 to 6 laying down lines and splashing in color.

I have good ideas for drawings and I can easily imagine them but I just don't know how to put them on paper. My issue is that I'm the type that draws stickheads and everything. I have no clue whatsoever about how to draw. I just want to draw detailed and interesting things. It's for my own amusement and for no one else... The first chunk of my post was related to your post in the sense that it is not entirely necessary to walk the rigid path of acquiring skills/knowledge if you set your aims low enough.

Yes, learning to draw can feel rewarding. Yes, it is the way to go in the long run if you're planning to outskill the casual sketcher.
However the beginner will come across obstacles while learning and especially in beginning feel overwhelmed by them. It takes dedication to see results.

Everything else is fine, although the lines look compressed (?) in some places.

Although the coloring is good, it seems like you tend to overuse the airbrush tool. You should try other kind of shading.

By compressed lines (i didn't knew how to name it), I mean those lines who look kind of pixelated or not smooth at all, don't know if I'm explaining myself enough here... Like the ones around the belt. It's not in ALL the places, just in some little parts. I also had that problem while using SAI and all I could do was lower the density to get more smoother lines.

Ahh I see what you mean. I think that's the coloring then, they disappear under the linework. But when I do linework, it's very tight.

But yea, sometimes I miss stuff like the belly because I can't differentiate between midtones, being partially colorblind. so I rely on RGB values to color.

Bridgman's drawings are too sketchy and difficult to interpret. Bammes is nice and clean. It's like looking at a blueprint. Just avoid the drawing from the left side of the brain and it's series. I started when I was 7, playing violin. Picked up piano and musical theory at about 12. So follow either of those paths.

You should start learning piano alongside musical theory. If you can afford lessons, all the better. Otherwise youtube has some cool people who know their stuff.

The most important is the musical theory though, if you JUST want to compose. piano helps you be creative and get ideas working faster is all, speeds up the overall composition process when you get to it.

Follow a grading system for both if you can, Im not sure in your country what they use but google royal schools music, trinity school of music, or something equivalent. Helps you structure your learning.

Once your comfortable with knowledge, pick up some programs to write music, or just do that now if you want to play around and learn by feel. Sibelius/finale is good for notation, cubase is pretty in the middle. FL studio is babby mode, easy to use and works. I suggest that for a first container program, the only thing is you need to find your own SFX and instrument plugins.

Anyway im rambling by now. If anyone wants more info or help, or even wants to collab some art and music together for anything, flick me an email.
If you're a good artist you could teach me to get into drawing and I could teach you musical theory even.

Why doesn't it? A hime cut is defined by the way the bangs are snipped, and her bangs are usually flat.

Patchouli has those, only they are much longer, and kept tied with ribbons. Kaguya's hair is also a hime cut, and Patchouli's hair is generally depicted as the same length, just tied differently. It doesn't have to be a short bob for it to be hime, just the way the bangs around the forehead are cut.

I started with sibelius years back in high school, and more recently, maybe 4 years back got into FL studio

The VST's I use are mainly refx nexus, with a few orchestral expansions, addictive drums for realistic snares and hats, everything else is done through what FL offers, producer edition.

I'ma big fan of VN music, and the simplicity/flow/atmosphere of it, and a lot of what Nexus offers is great for writing stuff along those lines. But it's aimed at electronic producers

What I want to get, if/when I got cash is
Symphonic choirs
Vienna strings

I havent bothered to learn something like Reason yet as I just dont have the time with study and work.

I am really liking "GOGOGO"

Would you be willing to share some music production tips please? What i do is compose in sibelius and then import it as a MIDI into cubase where i then assign each track to a VST, but now im trying to compose from just cubase, using the keynote editor.

I have a dozen unfinished compositions, but this is the only one that i have ever finished. It's been around half a year since this track.

Right now im working on a smooth acoustic composition... not really sure what it is. I hope to finish it, get it recorded, then post on here.

Here's the track i made 6 months ago

http://tindeck.com/listen/plfa

honestly im quite ashamed that it's the only track i have ever finished.

I'm not sure if I explained before, but I don't have a soundcloud. When I did I became extremely jittery whenever I thought that people could pick apart and listen to part of my mind whenever they felt like and it didn't matter who they were. I like having only /jp/ hear the things I make.

That sucks to hear. But I can somewhat understand that, whenever I actually get around drawing something I have problems sharing that, even when it's good. I had classes where we shared our drawings and never experienced something bad but when I draw for myself it seems totally different.

>> No.9595644

>>9594158
I like it personally, it's simplistic enough, but you could add a bit of variation in the drums, even a double kick at the end of every 2/4 bars would be neat.

Finishing projects is the hardest part, I have approximately 300+ unfinished compositions, I think for every 10 or so I make I get ideas I like enough to expand to the end. SO don't worry too much, just keep trying.

I mentioned before one called addictive drums. It's basically a real drumkit, you can change the types of drums, how they're hit, etc

I think it's worth $300 or so, but if you're just playing around, noncommercial 'try it out' and then see if it's worth the money to you.

Otherwise for elctronic drums, nexus has some great dance/house kicks, snares, hats. 300ish for the base pack and about 40 for the drum expac. same dealio.

free drum vsts just aren't realistic at all, but if you don't mind them google up and try a few, i'm stumped when it comes to that sorry.
