You're probably drink lager or some other keg beer. They add carbon dioxide because plebs think fizzier = better and it keeps for longer, but it makes for a much more gassy and bloating drink. Superior REAL ALE only contains the carbon dioxide naturally produced by the yeast, so it doesn't have this problem.

I dont get people who say that you shouldn't drink beer to get drink but to "enjoy the flavor".

It tastes like some rotten fruity thingy and I can only appreciate it if I'm already very drunk. But if in order to get drunk (so I can appreciate the taste) I need to drink that shitty pissy fermentedy fruity stuff, it kinda sucks.

I'd rather drink destilated stuff like vodka or whiskey.

I guess it's just, obviously, a matter of taste. I can enjoy and even "appreciate" ale while sober. There's a lot of difference from beer to beer. Some are fruity, some are hobby, some are nutty, some are chocolately, there are just so many subtle or blatant flavours that give different ales a different character. I've made two beers before, a lager we messed up horribly on but turned out really nicely somehow, and a pilsner that was more straightforward but I thought was kinda unimpressive. Though maybe it's just that I don't really like pilsners.

I bought a ton of Irish ale once because it was £0.50 per bottle. It tasted like water mixed with cheap lager, and the bottles themselves were some sort of thin plastic designed to look like glass. It was easily the worst drink I've ever tasted, but I drank it all because I was poor.

Some beers have "special" or "extra strength" versions that can go that high. But if that's why you're drinking beer, you might as well just drink something stronger. Beer is for slowly drinking and getting drunk gradually, not getting drunk as quickly or cheaply as possible. If you don't like the taste of stronger alcohol, mix it. Buy some vodka and have 50% vodka, 50% orange juice. Or make some of those Touhou cocktails.

Unfortunately, there is very little room for experimentation within the Reinheitsgebot which is why German beer culture is really fucking stagnant. Are their beers fantastic? Yes. But they don't do anything particularly new or unique at all.

I'm biased, though, since I'm really big on supporting the American craft beer movement.

To say nothing of the beers themselves, this term bugs me. Craft beer says nothing about the beer and everything about the brewery. Something like 90% of breweries in the US are craft brewers.

That's the worst part of alcohol though. It lowers your inhibitions and makes you more sociable, but everyone will be able to tell that you've been drinking from the way you're going to be acting and they will smell it on your breath either way. It has no practical usage.

Benzos mixed with stimulants or low doses of opiates mixed stimulants are both far better than alcohol. Lowered inhibitions, euphoric cheerfulness, but still very clear headed so people won't be able to tell that you're on something.

The grogginess of alcohol makes any of its social benefit pretty much irrelevant unless you're surrounded by other people who are also drunk.
