What does /jp/ think of traditional-style Japanese music? I've been listening to Yoshida Brothers recently, and they're great.

I like their "Prism" album where the style is a bit more contemporary. I have another album of theirs (I forget the name) but I don't care for it. The weaboo in my really tried to like it but it just wasn't happening.

You're the first person in this thread to actually contribute instead of shitposting like a typical /v/ child. Thank you.

On topic, this is really fitting my newly-acquired tastes.

>>9960790
I just like the way all their albums sound without feeling like a weeaboo.

Fuck you, just listen to traditional Japanese music. This is like saying, "I like Irish folk music, The Pogues are my favourite!" or, "Jazz is great, M-Base FTW!"

>> No.9960810

>>9960803
Yeah, I didn't really care about Japanese music before finding out about them, so I'm new to this. I started this thread hoping to discover something else to try.

Actually I am a fan of Noh-like music (with their stylish songs).
For just instrumental - go listen Ensemble Nipponia or Rin'.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm finding more music myself through these.

Someone post that comic about jazz.

Traditional shamisen always sound like someone trying to practice a really easy piece but still failing at it
I really like the sound of the instrument itself, though

What does /jp/ think of deathmetal music? I've been listening to Aerosmith recently, and they're great.

>> No.9960847

>>9960836
That's kind of noticable, the entry-level music I've heard before has western influences and sounds a lot different to traditional shamisen.
>>9960840
I could have started this thread by asking to be spoonfed recommendations, but it's more fitting to try to provoke some kind of conversation.

Man, Metal sure is great. Have you guys ever heard of Boyzone? Shit's heavy as HELL.

Wow that sounds really good OP, I think I'll get into this stuff. I think the only taste of this stuff I've ever had was when I've heard it in MMOs.
Like this song right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fVO9GWfILs I THINK this is the same genre.

It's not paranoia when you notice a recurring, consistent pattern. You will never, ever allow a weeb music thread go past page 10.

As if we'll never have another fucking one of these tomorrow.

Listen to the Touhou OSTs.

Now, an actual answer, although not very helpful, Toshio Masuda's music. The Mushishi OST is particularly good and very, very soothing, but I'm not sure if this is the kind of traditional music you're looking for.

Kenji Kawai, specially the stuff he made for Ghost in the Shell.

Ripped from the game I think so it misses the loop. YEah Yoshida Brothers is what I ahve been looking for more of. I was just looking for the ones I had found on youtube. They involved a bit more electronica and one guy was just a street performer selling cds. None of them I could find as a buy-able cd or even download legal or otherwise.
