here's the 100% legit reason for it, someone got it slightly right earlier by saying that the quality of education is poor, but the problem doesn't lie in the teachers.
they usually hire overqualifed people to teach english and they will sometimes find the work demeaning and boring but the fault lies in WHAT they are allowed to teach. they teach them according to the guidelines, guidelines created by japanese people with bad english knowledge, and as such, they end up teaching them basic and often wrong things.

From a mechanical and gameplay standpoint, Nioh is better in every way. It's a natural evolution if you played Souls and wanted more depth, challenge, better coop, more raw gameplay and replayability. However it's a worse experience game. Worse music, less visual variety, less impressive vistas, less permanence for your actions, no interconnected world, no strong theme, story that heavily relies on you knowing historical events that inspired it. If you want a souls game with better gameplay and more "video gamey" elements you will adore it, if you want epic bossfights with choirs blasting or sad music and a melancholic atmospheric world to immerse yourself in you wil be very disasppointed
