This post got me thinking, what's happening and what has already happened during season 2? I think Miko's comeback was the finale for season 1, so everything after it can be considered season 2 or the filler before it. Now obviously some plot hooks were already set up before the finale, such as the Chinese arc, HoloEN and PekoMoona. They seem to be setting up a new villain for season 2 and while the obvious answer right now might be Kiara, I think she is a red herring just proxying for the new villain that they are introducing soon.
There's certainly new plot points about to happen, like ID Gen2 and the mysterious HoloSingerEN. We also haven't yet tied up the remnants of the China arc and there's also the new years costumes/celebration coming up along with the 4th gen anniversary. One of the big hooks is also Haachama supposedly returning to Japan, while new adventures await on Twitch. All in all I got to say that season 2 is looking really promising so far.

the reason the holostars stick around is because their contracts state that once they reach 100k subs, they get to do an "offcollab" with whichever holo they want with no chance of refusal. Kaoru unfortunately had to be let go because he couldn't stick to the contract and decided he MUST get his "offcollab" with Rushia only two months in...
