So here's some retero links I promised that one anon in this thread. oh great thanks 4chan for not letting me post multiple site links at once.
>Our system thinks your post is spam
I can't even post the most important sites. Geez. When did 4chan spam control become a dictatorship?
That terrible feeling when this next site hasn't been updated in 4 years. It's like a knife of age cutting into my belly.

I actually haven't heard anything of this bunny man!
Please go on.
And yes, I'm sure that would count as a modern yokai, just like the Tiek Tiek woman.

I don't know about the yeti being a yokai, but believe it or not the yeti stories from Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan are pretty popular in Japan since the early 90's. Several well known Japanese archeologists have gone over there and returned to talk about what they saw on Japanese TV shows and even have appeared on American TV documentaries.

While in Japan I picked up a bi monthly horor/supernatural manga magazine that has the yeti on the cover attaching a Japanese hiker.

Sorry to tell you but big foot is probably just a half breed demon whose mum was an ancient ape.

Anyone know anything about any ape yokai? I can never find any info on such a creature other than this image.

>>12369111
Yeah, I guess so. Those are generally said to be a lot of them rather than just one walking around. One of my professors once described meeting a Tengu when he was riding through the forest at night. He didn't know what a tengu was until I told him. It was like a dead on description of what a tengu was too. It must have wondered through Hokkaido, through Russia, to the Alaskan Islands, all the way down the beach of California. I can recall the story if you like.

The whole kanji and hirigana system was almost scrapped and replaced with romanization. During the Meiji era many scholars tjat had gone to England and other European countries came back insisting that english romantization be fully replace the traditional language and to even have a wide spread interbreeding program with the white Western Europe with Japanese to create a hybred race.

Soon students in certain parts of Japan had only been taught the romantization and could not even read Japanese. The Meiji government thought this was too much and passed stricter education laws that would almost militarize middle schools and high schools while mandating traditional Japanese language be taught. These laws actually pleased the Japanese populaces more since it would preserve Japanese traditions. Despite what the Japanese are taught today, the Meiji era was drought with rebellions, riots, and military scandals that were living conspiracies the majority of people blatantly saw. For the system of Japanese written language to be obliterated would have caused even more public up roar and defacing of Meiji. The original loyalists to the shogunate who managed to adapt to Meiji's new government took up partitions with those they financially backed within the new government to curve the idea of hosting an intermarriage/mating, between whites and japanese, bureaucratic system. The end of this interbreeding government movement was when one of Charles Darwin's partner's suggested that if the Japanese and whites were to come together in nation wide interbreeding than it could result in children that had neither specialized traits the two ethnicity had separately developed. The leason is learn Japanese instead of pushing romantiziation of the language for your silly animus. Baka OP Gaijin!

I seem to be engulfing myself in 70's and 80's Japanese movies. I can't keep up with anything recent other than Kano. Feels bad, since everyone I talk to who is Japanese says they don't watch old movies, girls laughing at me in a nice way....

Neither have I. He always has great work. In the end I suppose an artist must move with the times, so to save time as well as transferring the works over to digital format he does most of his paint work and detailing on the computer, from what I've seen.

I'll hand paint my paintings if I ever have time in life. Multi-platformed people certainly must have good time management skills.

Utagawa Kokunimasa is one of my favorite artists and one of the last traditional artist of his era. If he wasn't being employed for Imperial newspaper exploits he had a very touching work style to him.

Its just not fashionable. The Japanese try to fit into society, so for me to wear something like this would make me stick out like a sore thumb. Better to practice fitting in than out. Days if making a living in the Army are over. The world is explored for the most part. Not many governments are willing to pay you to search for hidden treasures and such anymore.
