Sad Panda only has the mosaic'd artwork, as far as I can tell, though uncensored artwork (albeit limited to those available in Nutaku's version) can be found here:
http://m0e.uk/nsfw_valkyrie/

Of course, you won't be able to read the accompanying text or listen to the voice acting without playing the game, but neither of those are that great anyway.

Is there any advantage to using up Gila to combine/evolve Cs before using them as combination material for higher-ranked cards? As opposed to just combining them in as they were originally.

Shouldn't you receive something from it, though? Otherwise I don't see why you couldn't just wait for the timer to expire and the boss to go away anyway. Unless you're hoping for a different boss to show up, I guess.

That allows you to use the Smelly Bag item (if you have any). I'm not entirely sure what that does though… Kinda like an instant defeat item, maybe?

If you deal damage to the boss and the boss is subsequently defeated (remember, only the boss's 'owner' can inflict the finishing blow), then you will receive something in your gift box.
However, if the boss is not defeated, you'll get nothing.
I'm not sure whether you need to deal a certain amount of damage to qualify though (if you do, then it doesn't seem to be much), or whether you can qualify even if your attack(s) dealt zero damage.

It's definitely not just you. I haven't seen any. Did they even include ring and neck items in this version of the game?

Ah sorry, I guess I didn't word some of my previous statements very well... At this point, I don't know of anyone who has plans to translate Hou. I can ask around to see if anyone would be interested in translating it, though. Also, as everyone probably knows, MangaGamer will be releasing Higurashi on Steam. If it sells well enough, it's possible that they would want to release Rei and Hou.

There are some other possible methods for Rei and Hou to be translated, and I'll certainly do everything I can to get those in English somehow, but I wouldn't expect anything within the near future. Apologies if I got anyone's hopes up.

>Just buy the hardcopy version and wait for the new translation to come out.
There has been no confirmation as to whether owners of the hardcopy releases will be able to benefit from the new translation. That would be quite unlikely, imo.

Takano was only involved in the 1979, 1981, and of course, 1983 incidents. I'm not sure why you think otherwise, since it's quite clear that Irie was fully aware of what was happening.

I think sometimes people read too much into my comments and draw incorrect conclusions. Still, it's no big secret that, as I've said before, my goal is to make 07th Expansion's works as widely available as possible. I think people expect that from me, so there's really no point in hiding it. I can't discuss the specifics of enquiries, but it might be reassuring to fans to know that they are happening.

To be perfectly honest though, there's really not a whole lot to say about Higurashi Hou or the space-themed sound novel. Ryukishi07 has told me very little about the latter, and it's still too early to even make plans to translate the former. Now of course, I would love to work on Hou, but you may know that I'm not really a translator myself. I will see if one of the translators who worked on Higanbana will be able to translate the new portions of Hou, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

And even if we were able to translate Hou, we wouldn't want to tread on MangaGamer's toes. And there's nothing to say some other translation group won't pick it up. As you can see, the situation is quite complex, so even I don't know how things will turn out. I'll certainly do what I can, though.

Nope. It'll be in 640x480. The new sprites will of course be drawn in a slightly different style, but the existing ones will remain the same. Click for screenshots:

Don't quote me on this, but IIRC, they're running Windows 7. They definitely have LCD screens, at least.

The Witch Hunt are currently stalled, not making any progress with their Rose Guns Days translation. It is therefore unlikely they'd be able to work on any other projects soon.

>>12245255
Well, there are other translation groups out there…

The issue with the original translation of Higurashi wasn't just that it was poorly edited, but also that the translation itself wasn't very accurate. So I'd definitely recommend waiting for the new translation… and buy it, of course!

Higurashi will be released on Steam episodically, chapter-by-chapter as each is completed. The first chapter will hopefully be released later this year.

The Witch Hunt are currently working on Rose Guns Days, so they'd only be able to pick up Higurashi Hou when (or if) they're finished with that, which isn't likely to be anytime soon. I'd actually say there's a better chance that we, Spider Lily Translations, will pick up Higurashi Hou (though I certainly can't confirm anything before the game is even released).

Higurashi Rei is a fandisc, and I hope it will be fully translated eventually, but isn't particularly important.

It's probably best not to think of Hou as a proper instalment in the series. Rather, think of it as a DVD boxset containing all the seasons of your favourite TV series, along with a bonus disc featuring extras. Hou is a bit like that, containing all the previous content, plus a few extra short stories. It's worth noting that Ryukishi07 only had about half a year to write all the new content.

I actually quite like them. Reminds me of classic Chunsoft games like Kamaitachi no Yoru.

>>12240926
I'm curious to see if any fan translation groups will pick this up. That's not to say that we (Spider Lily) won't do it, but that would really be up to our translators. …I'll talk to them about it though and am certainly willing to assist anyone who does want to translate it. It'll be done by hook or by crook. That much is a certainty.

>>12241014
Higurashi Hou includes all the previous entries: Higurashi, Higurashi Kai and Higurashi Rei. You should of course read the eight main chapters first, but there's no need to purchase anything separately.

>>12242449
In short, Higurashi Hou will be released next month, and 07th Expansion will be releasing the first instalment of their new space-themed series in December. It has not been described as a When They Cry sound novel.

>>12243009
I think you are confusing Higurashi Hou with the upcoming space-themed series. Higurashi Hou is indeed part of the When They Cry series. However, it is not When They Cry 5.

In addition, Witch Hunt are currently mid-way through translating Season 3 of Rose Guns Days (there are four Seasons in total). A partial patch for Season 3 is available:

07th Expansion's upcoming work for Summer 2014 is a new instalment in the Higurashi series. Then, a new sci-fi themed VN will launch in Winter 2014.

Yes, The Second Night is the final instalment of the Higanbana series. If you enjoyed Higurashi and/or Umineko, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out. Feel free to give the free trial we have up on our website a try:

No release date has been decided for the Steam release of Higurashi. They're still translating Onikakushi-hen (the first chapter), though they're considering releasing the game in episodic fashion, chapter-by-chapter.

NScripter has the mousemode command which can hide the mouse, so I guess it's technically possible if you're up for modifying the game a bit.
