I have seen it with some Japanese players. The only difference is that they don't rub it in wherever they go. Also, it should be noted that Touhou has not been known in the West for as long as in Japan. Having that amount of time in a game is revered even there. The kinds of players that have that amount of time are usually ones that have been competing in the older games since they were new.

I think that most players would agree that you don't need to know the language to enjoy the games. It may depend on whether you are playing for the gameplay or the story. I can't say from experience, but I've heard a lot of people complain about the quality of the translation patches in certain games. I would say to play the Japanese version if you know the language. Like >>10356705 said, you will probably never read it again after your first playthroughs.

I'm stuck using a membrane keyboard for a while until I can get my old one back. I would much rather use my old method of input, but I couldn't live with myself if I stopped playing. Controlling the game is difficult, so I'm not sure if I will be motivated to stream during this time. I have done some notable things with a membrane before, so maybe I can get used to it. I hope that this will be a learning experience for me. I will be very happy when my old keyboard comes back.

Just because it's random doesn't mean it doesn't have a pattern. Even if it is vague, it may still exist. You may not notice some of these patterns for thousands of runs, but knowing them can help.

Not that I know a lot about TD scoring, but I wouldn't say that grazing is important. The game does have some great spots for graze, but it looks like it usually gets overtaken by the need for trance.

Make sure to unfocus for the familiars that shoot bubble bullets. That should make it easier to align yourself properly for the wave of green bullets.
