I think that not pressing it enough is a problem. SanaeB is a lot different when you can't bomb or summon.

You should be more specific. A replay would be nice.

Try them all and pick the one you like best. Don't listen to people telling you to play a specific game.

SanaeB LNBNV is not going well at the moment.

Although I haven't spent an extreme amount of time on SanaeB, she feels like the hardest shot I have played so far. She is good at the later stages, but the early ones are much harder with her. I could skip her and do MarisaA/B, but then I would have to relearn a lot of strategy and get used to the different controls. Sanae's dodging abilities are still fresh in my mind, and I will have to do her eventually to get 6/6 shots.

The sheer amount of time that I have spent on this goal is starting to take its toll, but I'm not about to give up after I have come this far. I know where I stand, and I know what I need to do to beat this game, but I'm still in a tough spot.

I have the first 4 shots memoed, but this dense part keeps killing me. I'll have to watch some replays for it.

I've been playing all day and my hands are starting to hurt, so I'll call it a night. I miss this feeling and I would like to experience it more often. I kind of miss when I could play for 15+ hours per day regularly.

Exxel, where are you? We miss you and we want you to stream for us. If you got abducted by aliens, then we are getting ready to rescue you, unless they took you to Gensokyo. If so, then please arrange for our visit.

Not the way I play it.
> she's never really been the best
How do you define "best"?
>but her lasers don't even pierce and the sound of her magic missiles is aggravating
The only game where I remember her having a piercing laser is UFO. Also, I don't mind the noise. Maybe lower sfx and increase music?
>>9090164
>even though her bomb is pretty useless for collecting spirits because you're so slow
Actually, it might be better for collecting spirits because it kills enemies for a longer time. Once the screen is clear, the spirits last for a long time, so you can collect them merrily. I find a lot of things in stage 4 to be an example of this.

6/6 No-Bomb UFO Lunatic runs. This is probably one of my better NB runs, but not quite the best. Actually, all my NB runs suck. NBNUFO is where the real fun is. I managed to miss 6 times on Byakuren, but I still did surprisingly well for the most part. It was Wine that messed me up. I switched to my Loonix because I didn't think I would be playing for the rest of the night(or morning?), but I guess not. I still only have 1/6 NBNUFO runs and 0/6 perfect runs, so I'll start getting to work on that. You have to take one step at a time, you know? This is going to be so hard waaaah. /(;~;)/

Maybe you should consider not using windowed mode. It's very hard to play at such a resolution. The game is harder to see and you don't get the benefits of fullscreen mode.

>>8995487
I've had to risk a NBNUFO runs to a perfect Byakuren a bunch of times and lost it at the last second, so don't feel bad.

I feel like these NB runs should be a little better. I can't take them as seriously as my NBNUFO runs. I need more time to play.
>What were the blackscreens though...?
Those are just encoding errors that make the screen black for a while. Here's an example of a bad one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0LIMlRVNs8&feature=player_detailpage#t=119s

I'm quite fond of MarisaC, although she does take some getting used to. I even did my VoWG timeout with MarisaC. I also like Homing Reimu.
>>8996049
>It seems I play better without the retexture pack.
Me too. Also, for those books, usually just dodging bullets works for me. I'm not that good at EoSD extra. Maybe you can misdirect them or shoot them down? Maybe you can look at some superplay replays to see how other players do it.

Dodge bullets and take pictures. Also, see if you can make a small route for it. Watching replays and taking breaks also helps.
>>8953685
That's normal. Just keep practicing.

Personally, I would be very ready to bomb at all times when facing Shou, but I probably wouldn't plan too many bombs. It depends how comfortable you are in facing some of her attacks. Personally, I think that only Shou's second nonspell is challenging, but only if she stays too low. Shou is a hard boss, but you can become better by practicing.

Also, feel free to post a replay.
And your pic is my current desktop background.
>>8950848
>I also bomb the one spellcard that is forced movement, I hate it.
It's easy, especially with certain shots. You just have to learn it.
>>8951953
>Anyone have an outline for what the "bootcamp" entails?
I think that would be playing at a much higher difficulty than you are used to for the sake of getting better quickly. For example, someone who usually plays on Normal would play on Lunatic. Personally, I don't believe in the "bootcamp". It never helped me get any better.

I'm not sure if it's even possible to defeat Shikieiki with just one life. It might depend on the shot and difficulty - I'm not sure.

I am disappointed. I shouldn't have done that bad on stages 5 and 6. Stages 1-4 were perfect except for a few derps on stage 3 which were quickly brushed off.

It's not complete, but I think it might still be interesting to watch. I'll do a few more runs later this afternoon. I'm a little busy today... and pretty tired. I'll get it one of these days.

Same here.
>I like MarisaA's shot but whenever I bomb it spikes my blood pressure.
That's something you just have to practice. I haven't done any good MarisaA runs in a while. I'm going to try playing her some more. Maybe I'll do some score runs.

If you are taking about me mentioning SB and MA, it's just that they are difficult and uncomfortable for me. I probably could beat them if I wanted to, I just don't have a lot of fun playing them. I can at least have fun playing with SA or MB, but the other two shots don't have that for me. I have gotten as far as almost beating the game with SA and MB, but I haven't gotten very far with SB and MA, although I haven't been trying very much.

Who would have though that the worst stage 4 run in the history of forever would feature a perfect Murasa. And it was a bad Murasa too. The RNG went crazy this time. I gameovered on Shou. I had a stage 5 almost as bad. This was a No-Bomb SanaeA run.

It would have probably been a decent run if I had played NBNUFO, but that hasn't been going anywhere lately. I want to get all these NB runs done already. I don't even feel like playing them all that much. I already have RemuA and ReimuB done. MarisaB NB was giving me the same trouble. I kept having practically perfect runs up until Byakuren where I kept loosing them at the last second through some unfortunate disaster. As for SanaeB and MarisaA... ugh. I really don't want to do that.

I currently use a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches. This is the exact model: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,fullsize&pid=fc500rrabn
I used a regular rubber-dome keyboard up until a few months ago. The last thing I did on it was a perfect VoWG timeout. I've been playing for barely a year now.

I have too far many achievements to name, so I'll just drop this:
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/User:Riz/Riz%27s_1CCs
http://www.youtube.com/user/someotherguy560/videos

My most impressive accomplishments are probably the VoWG timeout and the Tongling Yoshika timeout. As for my runs, I think that my multiple UFO Lunatic handicapped runs speak for themselves.

I'm just going to post something I've already written:
>I've personally never used a game pad, so it's hard to give you my opinion. Every good player I know prefers the keyboard by far. I would say they are better suited for the fighting games. I don't think you can match the precision of a keyboard with them. Still, they might be an interesting way to change things around, especially if you are shooting for arcade-like authenticity. Every good player I know of uses a keyboard exclusively.
And I'm still sticking with that.
