Pretty much. Either use some 1-power specials whenever you can fit them in or save up and use your final attack. Alot of specials dont do that much damage and require you to chain in/out of them anyway. That being said, its not impossible to finish arcade/story without using any, I did as Akira since you can spam ciel style.

No idea, im afraid, ive only ever done Mais and Miyus final. But seeing as you need to complete story/arcade with everyone, I may as well see along the way.

I have to say I do enjoy Mai's final attack. Makes quick work of computer opponents, atleast.

You can make Kohaku do her molotov bombing while youre Hisui, though it makes you lose an attack with both of them. (214x, I think) And you can still plantsex with her when you switch.
They both get to keep their original arc drives aswell, meaning you can confuse last arc with Hisui or deal high damage with Kohakus AAD. Though ive never netplayed a H&K before, so im not too sure.

I dont know what it is about MB, but I can never play it with a controller. All of my other games I tend to play with a controller, but I cant do it for MB.

Some characters do. Akira has triple jump but no air dash (except her 214x acts as one) and I think Mai has single jump but air dash. Akane can also fly and Miyu can endlessly jump using 22x.
