Somewhat surprised at the lack of MHP3 or even MHFU/P2. I thought we had a few other Monster Hunter fans last time we had a thread like this.

Currently grinding Rathalos in Freedom Unite for heavenly scales while hoping for an official announcement of an English localization of MHP3. I guess if I get too desperate I'll pick up the patch and play the Japanese.

Torrent here, last I checked there's ~300 seeds and ~1200 leeches. I'm currently seeding @200 KB/s cap. Confirmed working and jotti.org says the exes are clean.

Almost blind 1cc'd it myself. Got up to the next to last spellcard and game overed. TD seems really easy compared to UFO and SA, but a lot of the new spell cards are like nothing else in Touhou prior, and darn fun to boot (I'm looking at you, Stage 6, spellcard 4).

Or even Photoshop, but it doesn't matter since that guy on Nico tripled my score. I was actually getting bored of it by that point, so I guess I'm somewhat thankful I didn't end up going on to 150k. Still, it was some ridiculous luck I had that time.

Remove - None. I don't visit them and I'm not convinced that /jp/'s quality is due solely, or even primarily, to /v/, /a/, and /b/. I'm not quite enough of a spiteful jerk to remove other boards people like, either.

Add - /l/. I miss having a proper loli board here. I wouldn't be against the online gaming board someone above mentioned, either. FotM Korean MMO doesn't seem like it should be on /jp/, but I don't see a better place for the community to post about it. Certainly not /v/.

It's probably just an issue with the firmware version being out of date. Check the archive since a thread was around here a week or two back with some PSP CFW information. The latest versions work even on 3ks, without the chickHEN crap, and are based off the latest OFW. In other words, it works with the latest games without the need to patch ISOs. That's probably your best option at this point.

As a fellow 1k owner (and m33-6 user), I'd say just try this 6.39 thing everyone seems to be saying is best these days. Worst case, you just pandora and reflash to what you were using.

To expand upon what 7651649 said, you're currently fighting in the second dungeon. Backtrack to the first town and just northwest of it you'll see a forest. Walk into it and you'll find that it's a dungeon. You should find monsters here much more manageable.

I'm a bit torn. I have a few different setups I use, and they've all got their strengths. I tend to run 1 mage + 1 fighter, though.

Harpy Mage - the weak AoE cure/MP recovery is pretty nice for the MP recovery and mitigating light AoE in-battle, especially coupled with a half-MP usage item. With one of those at higher levels, it pays for itself and then some. Also, her high level AoE and single target nukes do respectable enough damage.

Metal Babble mage - More damaging than the harpy. Just sort of playing with it for now but I'll probably switch back to Harpy for versatility. Not to mention that Harpy actually has a solid single target for when I need to conserve MP and/or hit only one thing at a time while still doing damage.

Golem fighter - Its last two skills are incredibly damaging, with the single target also lowering the target's MP. Downside is that it has very high MP costs and a restrictive MP pool. Even with a half-MP usage item equipped, it still runs out of MP very quickly.

Dragon fighter - Not nearly as damaging as the golem, but it doesn't OoM nearly as quick, either. 0 MP AoE is a nice bonus, although it seems a little underpowered for endgame usage.

What others said about needing a capture rope is true, but also be warned that some later girls will take multiple attempts even at 5% or less HP. To further complicate matters, some of the later girls also have some self healing at low HP. These probably won't be as much of an issue once all the text is translated, though, so that it's easier to see precisely what is happening.

Go up from that teleporter deeper into the cave. An area that was previously a wall will now be open.

Next to last boss. You still have one more story boss (credits roll after it) then the optional dungeon boss.

This. It's nothing special. Just a bonus 500 EXP should you manage to kill it, but given the nature of it, it's usually better to just focus your resources on the other enemies since it will run away eventually anyhow.

Bomb spam won't save you against Kanako's final spellcard. Other than that, purely opinion here of course, I find it's still a fairly easy game with simple patterns. I still have more trouble with them than any of the patterns in PCB or IN, though. Even without cherry border and fake, extra long window death bombing, those two games are just easy.

As for extra, unless you're Marisa B glitching it up, Suwako's is one of the quirkier extras I find. Ran and Flandre were easier. Koishi is more straightforward. Mokou is similar to Suwako in her level of trickery, but spell practice makes it a moot point. I haven't 1cc'd UFO yet to try Nue, so I can't comment on her.

Overall, without bomb spam and Marisa B glitch, MoF is moderately difficult compared to other games in the series. Not the easiest, but not the hardest.

I just had the same issue. Chances are files got corrupted, same as me. Try using a different program to unzip. Mine doesn't properly support Japanese text, which I remembered, so I used the default windows one and it worked fine. I hope this helps.

Having just finished Amane's route tonight, I'd like to say thanks for the translation. While it was very awkward, I could usually figure out what was going on and only has trouble at a few places. A more polished translation would, of course, be preferable, but beggars can't be choosers. I'll echo the same sentiment a few others have, though: if you do another project like this, leaving out the memes and excessive (not to mention out of place) profanity would be great, as they do detract from the mood even more than awkward English does.

Overall, while not perfect, I do appreciate the effort as it does seem at parts that it's cleaned up a bit more than just straight machine translations. I wouldn't say to ignore the complaints and trolling, since there are some very valid points, but take them more as constructive criticism than a flat out "shit sux". If it's any consolation, it's far more readable than Kira Kira, and I've heard that the Edelweiss translation made Kira Kira look perfectly natural.

I'd normally recommend the opposite (playing EoSD first to get a feel for hitbox so you don't rely on visibly seeing the dot) but at this point, hitbox awareness probably isn't the OP's problem. I'm leaning more toward input lag.

I use a PS2 controller with an ancient RadioShack PSX to USB adapter. I doubt they even produce them anymore, but there should be other alternatives out there. I think there's also the option of downloading USB drivers for PS3 controllers, but I haven't looked into much as I have no PS3 myself.

As someone mentioned earlier, though, the vsync patches are your friend. I don't use them, but I do recall reading at some point that it didn't affect gamepad input nearly as much as keyboard input.

As for controller mappings, I use X for shot, □ for focus, △ for skip, and R1 for bomb. Seems to give quick, comfortable access to anything I need. For STB-like focus/charge systems, I use O for the charge. In Ten Desires I use R2 for manual trance activation.

>What made you into the NEET autistic you are today?

A wonderful combination of social anxiety, MMOs, and a general distaste for modern society. This includes, but is not limited to, the persecution of anyone showing interest anything even mildly pedo/loli-related.

>Do you hate normalfags?

Being more the live and let live type, I just keep to myself and let them do their thing. I don't like them, but I'm not involved in their affairs enough to care.

>How long have you had a waifu?

While I enjoy Touhou and other prime waifu material, it's not my thing. I won't deny I'm a sucker for Satori, Remilia, and Utsuho, but none of them would really be on the waifu level for me.

If only it were that simple. You see, not showing them at all is somehow implying male superiority and thus sexist.

In three words: STGs, music, and stories.

For me, the the STGs really capture something I've always enjoyed about the genre. It's challenging, with simple gameplay, and surprisingly high replay value despite each playthrough being relatively short. On the other hand, it doesn't take itself seriously like most other modern shooters and still seems somehow welcoming. The music wouldn't have been something I'd listen to before Touhou, but it's quirky and interesting, while being incredibly nostalgic. Again, it isn't trying to be edgy or modern. It's reminiscent of classic gaming tracks.

The canon stories are hard to follow and a bit nonsensical, but cute. Gensokyo as a whole seems to represent a truly perfect world. Not a boring one without conflict, but a living, breathing world where people do have emotion, but still don't solve all their problems through the kinds of methods we would expect in our world. Even if a conflict does occur, it's like it was two best friends fighting who make up afterward and put it behind them. Things like SaBND and the game endings demonstrate this well, and it's the kind of story I like reading about.

If you want an easy time, this. You could beat probably any battle in the game with just Ramza and a Black Mage/Wizard with Calculator/Arithmetician's skills set to secondary. Just throw Excalibur or Chameleon Robe on characters, make sure your mage is female, and give her setiemsen, the auto-haste perfume. I forget which other gear you need to pull it off, perhaps thief hat, but it should put you at the point that you'll get to 100 CT after 6 ticks in, thereby almost guaranteeing that you hit everything on the battlefield with CT3 Holy. Only one monster type in the game that only shows up in a few story battles nullifies holy, and from what I remember, nothing at all resists or absorbs it.

Gamebreaking aside, until you're more familiar with the game, don't over-grind. If you over-grind in the early chapters, you'll screw yourself out of viable gear while the non-story fights get progressively tougher with your level. A good guide seems to be to follow what gear is available. For example, don't bother with Lancer until you have shops that will sell you spears.

Yep, it's just a shame that the annual /jp/ FFXI thread has less trolling and more informative posts than BG does, though. It used to be good, but turned for the worse when /b/ memes started creeping in.
