>Why so?

It smells and tastes bad. In general, water is ideal in its natural state.

>>11601076

It sounds like you got a bad batch. Foodstuffs fit for human consumption have none of those qualities! Oxidized ('fermented', red) rooibos has a sweet, candy-like smell and similarly sweet taste.

>>11601088

This isn't bat country. Out with you, fiend.

>>11604716

Yes, I have. It was served that way in a tea shop I visited last year. It doesn't work very well. Pressing the leaves tends to result in a bitter brew and it's very difficult to clean, which means a murky mix of flavours is inevitable.

Carbon filter isn't bad, depending on the mineral content of your water. Definitely avoid reverse osmosis.

I doubt tea is allowed on here. But what kind of flavours do you like? Sweet, savoury, bitter?

Very gently roast it in a thoroughly cleaned frying pan to make homemade houjicha. Frying pan sold separately, Hell Raven wife not included.

http://greattasteawards.co.uk/ I know of several Japanese teas that have received this award, including a matcha.

That doesn't sound healthy...

>>11386751

There is Chinese grown matcha and sencha-style tea, but it doesn't taste very good... there is, however, a rare steamed Chinese tea called Enshi Yulu. I have never tried it, though.

I had replied to everyone before, but the thread 404'd by the time I hit reply.

Anyway, getting a nice welcome back was an unexpected, welcome surprise. I think I'm out of luck with my shipment. Maybe we can have decent tea threads again, moderation and trolling issues aside.

Remaking the thread, as these type of threads are explicitly allowed in /jp/'s rules.

I lost three tea packages I ordered from Japan through regular airmail. I can't figure out why... I have never had a problem before, and it's been over a month and I haven't received them.

Has this happened to anyone before? Would it be possible customs has them and hasn't even bothered to send me a notice? I guess I should have used EMS...

They are. What I was drinking was harvested on April 16. Favourable weather conditions have brought an early harvest this year.

If those are VNs, I haven't heard of them. It's a good time of the year for sakura-anything though.

It doesn't say exactly what's in the list of ingredients, but it looks from the description like that's a sakura tisane, which is different from what you may have been expecting, which would have been Japanese green tea flavoured with sakura. Dried, salt-preserved cherry blossoms are a traditional Japanese drink, but it isn't really tea, per se.
