As you can see the translator tried to find a way to keep both the pun with the similar sounding names as well as the transitions to kunreishiki romanization with a single letter changed which then funnels into the twinkle twinkle little star reference.

You will see that even H-Scenes can be serious business that require thought and not just mindless translation.

I want to explain this thing with the names. In the original there is established right in the first scene that Doug calls his wife by name "Rikky" but she is so horny for him that she only understands "Dicky" or analogous Rinko/Chinko.

Rinko is actually not just a name to rhyme with Chinko but it can also be read as りんかん(rinkan/gangbang) + 子 (kid) => Girl that gets gangbanged (doesn't actually happen in the game as it's a purege but that underlines her promiscuity.)

Later there is a transitional H-Scene in bed where she comes hard and her words slur from Dicky (Chinko) over the Kunreishiki version (Tinko) which we simply turned into "Ticky" and from then it transitions into "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Now tell me another way to localize this elaborate terrible pun without giving the girl and name like Vikki or Rikky. I can't come up with anything.

I'll show you the scene in question in the next post because otherwise this is getting too long.

The Lord of The Rings starts with ~100 pages of not much happening; this is about 1/3 of the first book and 1/11 of the whole series' page count. Assuming umineko ep1 is 1/8 of the total wordcount then it's in about the same range; maybe something actually happens at the end which would inch it closer to 1/10. That said, you might not consider LotR a bonafide "classic".

Really though, I think it's clear that there is a split in perception regarding what counts as "nothing" happening. Certainly some genres of Japanese writing have quite a lot of that. Cultural expectations may be different; weebs being a bit of a special case may be more tolerant because many will have been partly weeded out by SoL in other VNs and Japanese media.

What do you consider as yuri-bait? They do have sex with each other. The game is basically about ghosts who haven't passed into the afterlife yet and you teach them how to fall in love with other girls from the school. The game is about creating more and more yuri couples.

If I recall correctly it has the same calender system as for example Lilycle Rainbow Stage or Lilium x Triangle has so you schedule your days which girl you want to spend time with.
