I've been exercising consistently for a few weeks now and I feel much better! I want to be able to do pistol squats and pull-ups again!
Today specifically I went for a walk through some fields under the close-to-full moon.

I applied for a job, got it, and got sent to the countryside. That's about it.

While I wouldn't mind checking out a maid cafe to see what all the fuss is about, I have zero interest in paying for another person's company, sexual or otherwise in nature.

I'm here because this is an "ask gaijin in Japan anything" thread, and that's what I am.

For me, my company takes care of the big stuff for me - lease, filing for taxes, etc. The rest - paying bills and whatnot - I can do on my own, but I think the company would provide help if necessary.

I'm pretty sure that unless you're a "visitor" or have a working holiday visa, you need some company or organization to sponsor your visa, so I think going through a program is your best bet.

No, no, no.
1 and 3 because I'm not a degenerate. 2 because I don't know any musicians, unless you count the vice principal at my school.

If your Japanese isn't up to par, you can forget about it. You have to have a marketable skill and be able to communicate and use it as well in Japanese as you can in English. Employers will be wary of hiring foreigners because who knows when you'll decide that you don't like Japan anymore and pack your bags and move back home?

>>12468402
Just apply to several places - don't put all your eggs in one basket.

>>12468821
Well you have to be employed in order to get the working visa. As a visitor, I don't think you can technically be employed, and under a student visa, I think you're limited to part-time employment.

No, but a French guy over on /int/ that goes by the name "The F." has done both of those.

Teaching English. I could speak and understand enough Japanese for daily conversation when I applied, but that didn't have any real bearing on my employment - though I do get an extra 10,000 yen per month for not bothering the company with translations.

>How did you all meet your spouses?
Through work.
>Did you have the intention of getting a spouse ASAP knowing that it would lead to permanent living in Japan?
Not at all.
>How long after meeting did you guys get engaged / married?
About 3 years.
>Did you have a fancy wedding?
We haven't had a ceremony yet (got married in April). We're thinking of going to Hawaii with our families and having a very simple ceremony there.
>What are your spouses' friends and family like to you? Do you see them often?
They're really nice. My husband's family lives nearby, but they're very busy so I don't see them too often. I go over to help out at their business sometimes, though.
>Other than your spouses do you have other close contacts in Japan or do you have other gaijin networks there?
Not really. I talk with my Japanese coworkers at work, and very rarely make contact with the other foreign guy in town. But then again, I'm not really the most sociable person in the first place.
>How did you get your jobs in Japan?
I submitted my resume to a company while in the US, got an appointment for an interview, and just went from there.

Yeah, I was. I honestly didn't get a degree specifically to get a job, so it doesn't really bother me. I'm looking into translating (currently studying in my copious spare time at work), or if I can't manage that, I would like to work at JR as a station attendant or the like. I'm already married, so I don't have to worry about visas.

Income tax - about 75,000 yen/year.
City/Prefecture residency tax - 110,000 yen/year.

Yeah, as long as you don't go to hostess clubs every weekend or something ridiculous like that it's very easy to live comfortably and save money.

I work as an ALT at a public JHS, 8-4 with a LOT of down time. I make about 2,500,000 a year. Living in the countryside, that's more than enough to live comfortably.

In my experience, they don't really treat you much differently - still greet you just as happily, still help you out when you need it. The only difference I've noticed really is that they stop asking "How long are you in Japan for?"
