jet fuel is kerosene. the fuel tanks weren't filled to full capacity as the planes were only going to LA. the structural steel of the towers was arranged in a contacting grid manner. In other words, the entire tower served as a heatsink, so all the heat from the burning kerosene still would have been insufficient to heat the steel of the towers to the critical temperature for structural failure.
