I use Sanseido for the j-j as they have nice definitions with closed deleted examples. For J-E, I use Kenkyuusha 5th edition both for the definitions (that have nice Japanese context at times) and the many example sentences and phrases that lots of time explain that it's an idiom for a clearer idea of the meaning that a straight translation would not give you.

Same here with my sentence mining definitions. My kanji and grammar deck are a different layout so I might look those over. Example words for the kanji, and Japanese explanation (SKM) for the grammar.

Thanks, but I deserved it. I was an asshole in that thread the lead mod made to calm down people. Plus, every time I posted a video from my channel there with people that barely participated in the sub whined how I'm making so much money as a mod there. No bad feeling with the mods there personally, though I had to chastise one after the fact.

The only flaw with that idea is when you're reading and misinterpret something there's nothing that'll tell you you got it wrong unless you lucked out with context making you "huh?". Also, I use Anki to test things you don't normally do when immersing such as writing kanji from memory or thinking about which kanji are used for vocabulary words (audio or closed delete cards).

I'm an eternal dekinai, so I put both Japanese and English definitions for my cards, but I put the J definitions on top. Same with Yomichan.

I'll be honest though, just reading a lot helped more than how I added dictionary text to Anki.

Fuck you. The most I did with the Core decks was sort them by frequency groups and then by vocabulary kanji using the 2001.Kanji.Odyssey index.

Core 10k first 6000 cards are from iKnow. The last 4000 cards are from some app. The images in the first 2000 are what iKnow licensed. The last 8000 images are from someone's shitty Google search of the vocabulary word.

Anyway, there's no need to use Core or any variant of it. It's out of date and the example sentences are bad. Instead, find some version of the JLPT Tango decks and sentence mining.

Doubtful. Despite my military background I've never been in many fights. I'm a pretty strong guy so likely I'd just body slam them, but anyone trained in MMA or boxing would likely kick my ass even with my weight advantage
