The situation that caused me to post this thread is similar. Went to Japan in high school, had an amazing host family, they sent me back with gifts for my parents and everything. When she came over the next year, my parents were in the middle of getting a divorce, so we couldn't host her. I will always, always, always feel bad for not keeping up with her...

I installed the game from the ISO and applied the patch.
God knows what "modifications" they did to the executable file.

Just to be safe, I decided to download the ISO and not use the standalone version.

That executable file seems like it is a no DVD exe patch and the file size disrepancy with the standalone version is very suspicious.
