Off-topic for MG discussion: I just wanted to do something to help show my appreciation for the guys here who read my work for two years. This art commission was what I wanted to show you guys when I finished Falling Leaves earlier this month. Unfortunately the artist couldn't finish before then due to other commissions, which was completely my fault for not checking. Whoops.This feels kind of out of the blue to post right now and I apologize for that, but here it is, and I think it's lovely.

This is the end of the story, but there were a lot of things I wanted to do with it that I couldn't fit in anywhere without making it feel too drawn-out. At the same time, I spent a lot of time fucking around without much happening in this story, which is a flaw I need to work on. Thank you for sticking around until the end (all three of you).

Other business: I commissioned some artwork, which I wanted to be finished by today, but that proved to be far too rushed of a deadline. Hopefully I won't be forgotten by the time it's finished, because it's mostly for the people who enjoyed Aviators and Falling Leaves.

Mostly stuff about my writing. I learned a long time ago how easy it can be to fuck up your story so much that it stops making sense. The first iteration of Falling Leaves had Jun being a generic greedy tanuki asking Lennard to marry her because he "had potential." I don't even remember where I was going with it at that point; I just wanted to write and be showered with praise. Luckily people put me in my place so now I actually try to have things make sense.

Also, never work on two things at once. Use both long and short sentences. Short paragraphs read quicker. Probably a lot more.

If their backstory is important to the story or explains an otherwise unexplained interaction the side character had with the story or a main character, then sure. Otherwise it might be fine to skip it or write a whole spinoff series if you want, I don't know I'm not your supervisor. If it feels like filler to you, then it probably is. But that's just me.
