A waste? You make it sound like wishes are a finite resource when they're not. Anyhow, I already said if the person doesn't have the means to buy said potions he can wish for them instead to reap the benefits of them earlier in the game and have a guaranteed method of getting good mutations. Yes, he can wait till later to get them but that logic can also be used for any of the normally wished for things such as astral pen, happy bed, seven league boots, and secret experiences of kumi. One can just wait for those items to drop from their respective enemies. Why no nitpick there?

With regular potions of mutation isn't there a chance you could end up with a bad mutation or does blessing them eliminate that? Or does it just give you more mutations but they can be good or bad? Potions of evolution I know give you 2-4 good ones.

If you're early into the game and don't have the means to invest in shops and such wishing for potions of evolution is an alright wish. An Astral Pen is also another option. Potions of descent isn't bad either. You can bless them so you gain a level instead of lose it.

Ah yes, you're absolutely correct. On that note I wish there was an actual meteor book that I could read which I could eventually reserve at the mages guild.

In normal Elona domination can't be reserved but in Elona+ if you invest in the npc that reserves books and bring the rank to 60 or more you'll begin to see them.

Not much really damages you through your PV? Holy cow how much PV do you have and how did you get it? I still have to be careful around enemies deep in the abyss.

I made mention of resist feats but I can understand hp/mp being tacked onto the list. Fair enough. Stamina would be a no for me. I only use maybe 3 special abilities frequently with disturbance being the most used. I haven't had any stamina problems up to this point but for a character that makes liberal use of special abilities I can see maybe picking it up.

As for speed I've been playing for quite a long time and I've guzzled tons of hermes blood, potions of upperspeed, and have used AP to boost my speed to where it is now. I'm level 330 currently and due to that I can conquer a wide range of dungeons and their bosses that have a chance of dropping medals. About 1 in 3 bosses drops at least one medal and since dungeon levels and their bosses don't discriminate I can do a lv 1 dungeon and clear it in seconds and have a chance for that boss to drop medals. I turn them in to Garok for the herme's blood. Potions of upperspeed can be found in dungeons and traded for using musical tickets.

What feats do you recommend the points go then? Exorcism was incredibly good to me as it reduced frustration caused by really bad curses and it certainly helped save me money. The +speed feats to me also were invaluable in developing my speed which lead me to never needing to rely on the riding skill or worry about losing my mount and defaulting back to a lower speed amount if my speed was focused on my mount. My current speed is on it's way to surpass that of even the gods so even if I were to astral pen them and mount them I wouldn't see any speed gains. I question the overall worth of the riding skill now that I think about it. It's probably pretty good when you're starting out the game but eventually you can do without it.

Like? If it's the feats I definitely stand by my recommendations but I'd like to hear what you disagree with and your reasoning behind them. For the feats how can additional gains to attributes, resistances, speed, and luck be a bad thing?

Only reason why I chose to avoid the special abilities is because for the most part magic eclipsed a lot of the use of the more interesting ones. I might be able to see a person picking them up if they are ardent about being a pure range or warrior type class though.

Save on the world map and backup your save file and maybe your user folder. Download the newest Elona and replace the necessary folders. Crystal spear is a good spell and I use it a lot with my main character so for a pet to have it as well I would think would be a good thing. If you're intent on raising a pet instead of replacing and cycling through pets I'd recommend just building up each pet one at a time or if resources permit only a handful.

Your character sheet should tell you how much resist you have in total if that is what you're asking.

I originally started out the game as Jure Gunner that attempted to make money from performing. Alas, those were dark days as people threw rocks at me and I was so poor that I had to live off of hard bread and sleep in alleys. Being so poor I couldn't regularly afford the remove curse services so Exorcist saved me from a lot of frustration. As for luck it's hard to raise that attribute and feats is one solid way of doing it. As for speed I didn't use pets for the longest time so I had to rely on my own speed. It also should be noted that my speed by the time I got Lityou as a potential riding animal was already in the 500 range so riding would of actually hurt my speed than helped.

The gains in resistance when eating certain kinds of monsters isn't that much sadly. If you do gain some resistance you'll get some sort of flavor text. In the case of poison it's something along the lines of gaining antibodies to poison.

Generally speaking the tourist class is considered the hardest class to start with. As far as classes goes the one you pick should match what you want to do in the game. Having said that character generation shouldn't just revolve around which class to pick. Character race, class, and feats all should be considered when making a character.

When selecting your race pay attention to the attribute bonuses, abilities, and starting skills of the race. The description of the race should hint at the racial abilities.

When selecting your class pay attention to the attribute bonus, the starting skills that come with the class, and the class feat. The class feat isn't shown during character generation which is something they really need to fix in an update. Anyhow, the elona+ wiki has the listing of all the hidden class feats.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Class_feats_%28Elona%2B%29

Ideally you will want to choose a race and class that when combined will give you all the skills you need to do to be whatever you planned to be i.e sword wielding warrior, spell slinging wizard, gun wielding maniac, performer, hybrid, etc. Also the attribute bonus of both the race and class should be considered. If you want to be a ranged user pair a race and class that will give you good attribute bonuses towards dexterity and perception. Hybrids will want a decent attribute bonus spread so Eulderna is a good candidate there.

As for feats this is what I recommend: Exorcist(Take this no ifs ands or buts just take it. This feat will protect you from some asshole trying to curse your equipment while you sleep.) Any feat that raises your speed,. Any feat that raises your attributes. Any feat that raises your resists. Any feat that raises your luck. Maybe take the feat that increases faith. Avoid feats that give you special abilities such as fire breath or vamperic abilities. I have found them not particularly useful.

Farmer isn't a bad class as the skills you start off with help you with harvest quests that I remember liking to do. The harvesting quests had you train weight lifting and healing(carrying too much can damage you making this skill kick in) which in turn helped in the development of your strength and constitution scores. Strength and constitution help to determine your health so the transition from farmer to dungeon diver was easier due to increased survivability. Just need to learn skills to use magic and depending on your playstyle a melee weapon or ranged weapon.

If you don't really care for your character though, which it sounds like, just know that all characters that choose to become adventurers and succeed at it eventually become some sort of melee/magic hybrid, ranged/magic hybrid, or a pet handler that might leave all the fighting to their pets. I recommend picking a race and class that supports these kind of playstyles. I personally found great success in playing a Gunner that later pick up magic so if I had to do it all over again my ideal picks due to my playstyle would be an Eulderna Gunner.

Solo play is totally viable and that's how I've played the game for a very long time. I didn't start looking into pets until I was like lv 300ish lol....but there are perks to being a late pet adopter. Specifically, it's pretty easy to invest in my pets since gold and gear are very easy to come by for me now.

It's a roguelike so expect to die a lot as you learn about the Elona world and how to survive in it. It's a challenging game so it should appeal to those looking for one. Despite being a roguelike Elona is actually a sandbox game and depending on the difficulty you choose you can actually keep playing the same character even if you die unlike other roguelikes.

Elona has an online element to it in the way of being able read about the deaths of other players who are also playing Elona at the same time you are. You won't be meeting other Elona players in your world though so at it's heart Elona is a single player game.

? I wasn't aware of a time when pets sucked although in Elona+ pets have been buffed with things like evolutions, ability to customize AIs, and the ability for pets to get AP so they can buy special abilities.

As for scaling there seems to be two camps when it comes to playing with pets. There's one group that dominates/catches pets and when it is no longer useful, or the character is strong enough to do so, dumps the pet and dominates/catches a stronger one. The other camp chooses a pet or handful of pets and decides to invest heavily in them instead of dumping and cycling through pets.

I'm part of the later camp due to evolution and AP mechanics for pets in Elona+. As a person that invests in his pets the general strategy is one where if it's good for your character it's likely good for your pet and if you take care of your pet your pet will take care of you. So make sure to give your pets good gear, blessed potions of potential, and send it to the dojo to train its skill potentials. Use the AP it earns to give it special abilities and increase its speed. Potions of upperspeed and hermes blood will be useful there as well. Herb food can also help increase the stats of your pets.

I remember that stint in my early god slaying days.

The element dragon is probably the weakest of the god type monsters as it's damage is reduced significantly by resist gear/high level silence spell. Due to its attacks I understand why you say you must kill it by yourself since if your pets don't have the required elemental resists they die pretty fast.

Stag gods were painful for a bit. I ended up stacking lighting resist, working on leveling a healing spell and teleport spell, and doing lots of hit and run tactics to bring them down. Stag gods were my hardest enemies in the game for awhile as I could kill anything I saw with ease but when I saw a stag god I knew I could bring them down but I was in for a long and miserable fight. Eventually the levels and stats I gained through adventuring allowed me to ditch hit and run techniques and go toe to toe with it.

I thought the stag god was the worst enemy the game could throw at me aside from the gods you worship but then I met the Atlas and five headed god. The Atlas is a melee brute with a str of 736 that can demolish your life bar in seconds if it can get his hands on you and the five headed god is fast and has many attacks due to said heads. Each attack is an element but with even superb resists the attacks can whittle you down because of how fast and how many attacks it gets. Even worst is that it has a lot of life to boot as well.

Eventually my permanent solution to these god type enemies was stumbling upon a living weapon and stacking "deals massive damage to gods" when I leveled it up. That living weapon made things a whole lot easier when dealing with god enemies. I also found another living weapon later on and decided to stack "deals massive damage to dragons" to deal with various elemental dragons(red, white, elect, etc) not to be confused with the element dragon.

Summary: Level up, get more stats, get more resists, get living weapon to deal with god type monsters

A couple of threads ago someone made mention that the "nuke your own house and get awesome weapons" trick didn't work anymore which I thought was interesting but understandable. I went to test if this was true in version 1.38R of elona+ but as it turns out the trick still works.

The trick really helps out anyone starting out in Elona+ because it revolves around killing the two npcs that give you the tutorial for the game. By looting their corpses you'll be able to get the Bow of Vinderre and the Ether Dagger/Dagger Surrounded by the Wind. Both weapons are incredibly powerful for anyone starting out and will allow a lv 1 person to immediately start doing red colored hunting quests.

You can't kill the NPCs at the start of the game in your house in a normal fight so that's where a nuclear bomb comes in. So create a character, accept the tutorial that the NPCs give and immediately leave your house. Do not kick them out of your house. Also, do not enter Vernis as this will cause them to leave your house as well. Instead, head to Derphy or any other town but Vernis and do escort quests and delivery quests. Make sure these quests do not lead you into Vernis as well. Any other city is acceptable. Do these quests until you get 12000 gold.

Next, go into any random field by pressing space bar on the overworld. In this random field try to find some rope. Now head to Derphy and talk to the NPC called Noel. Buy the atomic bomb for 12000 gold. Pick up the bomb and notice that you can't move because it weighs so much. This is where the rope comes in. Press T and select the rope and hang yourself. Die and choose to crawl back up and you'll appear back in your house with the two NPCs with hopefully the bomb still in your inventory.

If it's not there go back pick up the bomb and rehang yourself until you're in your house with the bomb in your inventory. Finally, press T again to activate the bomb and walk around as the countdown reaches 0. Revive and loot the NPCs

Thanks for the info you two. Wow, I hope a future update fixes the INI thing for characters existing before 1.37 then. I'm not overly concerned because I've bought most of the AP abilities I wanted a long time ago and potions of upperspped and hermes blood have taken care of my speed. However, they should definitely fix this for other players who didn't get around to spending their AP prior to 1.37 or still have things they're looking to get.
