Nah, my stuff is cleaner than this mess of buggy shell scripting (yes, I can already see a number of bugs in that code; for example it passes along metadata as parameters without any safety checks).
I used to do it with shell scripts myself (originally rewrote cue2tracks because it was utterly insane, and the result looked pretty similar to caudec), but quickly noticed how dumb and unnecessarily complicated that was given how you can do basically the same thing better and in less than 500 lines if you use a language like Python or Go.

Welp, FFmpeg uses libmp3lame to encode, but apparently doesn’t write the encoder delay metadata the same way the LAME frontend would. Time to file a bug, I guess. And hope they’ll cooperate. Dealing with FFmpeg folks is a pain in the ass, and like I mentioned before, this stuff is non-standard.
I was using FFmpeg so I could just run it on the WavPack files after splitting without having to bother with the metadata, but it seems that was a mistake (I only checked whether it was actually passing encoder settings along properly).

Looks like I’ll just write another script to do the conversion properly and fix all the files on my server. Thanks for noticing.

Finally.

I’m not. Maybe you’re thinking of srsfkn.biz, which I think used to be owned by someone from gg.

The idea was that once an upload has been approved by a few people, it goes to the main list permanently. Basically just to make it easier for those who only want the good downloads.
That was done so instead of putting someone in charge of maintaining a spreadsheet and having random annotations everywhere, everyone can contribute the same way.
Of course the ratings can be abused, but I expect users to behave and not do retarded shit just because they can.

Very very late in the game, but I hacked together something we could use instead of the spreadsheet: http://c84list.srsfckn.biz

Didn’t test it much and don’t know if it’s useful like that, but it should basically work. Just tell me if shit’s broken or if there’s something I should change. I’ll put that site up for future Comiket threads as well if it’s useful enough.

Just pretend he was referring to chinks complaining about re-uploads of their precious private releases.

There is no standard way to do gapless playback in MP3 because the standard defines no way to store encoder delay. Workarounds exist (e.g. LAME records it in a non-standard tag), but no proper solution that works with everything. “Proper audio players” are really just players that happen to support a random non-standard tag.

V0 transcodes straight from the lossless versions:
http://comiket.srsfckn.biz/c84/audio/lossy/

>> No.11336560 [View]

Either way, seeing how a lot of the lossy uploads seem to be outright bad transcodes and/or not properly tagged, should I start putting lossy transcodes of the lossless stuff on my server? If so, Vorbis q6 or LAME V0? The former would have the advantage of being slightly smaller and supporting gapless playback, but I don’t know if you guys need maximum compatibility with shitty portable devices or something.

Oh, nevermind. I thought we were talking about lossless here.

Video playback didn’t seem to work for me (disabled it in Grisaia’s settings), whether I blacklisted winegstreamer.dll (had the appropriate DShow codecs installed anyway) or not.
Maybe it’s actually still using VfW? ffdshow AFAIK still contains a VfW wrapper, so installing that and setting winegstreamer.dll to disabled *could* make it work.

Well, not a big deal, and it works fine otherwise.

That I will do. I’m outta here after this post, unless someone’s asking a question.
Guess I’ll fix my scripts for next Comiket though (and I won’t spam the thread next time either). After all, it’s easy to change that, and if it makes things more convenient, why not. Maybe I’ll repack all the things I’ve previously uploaded and fix the manga filenames so they’re sorted by series if I’m bored enough, but no guarantee (otherwise I’ll keep doing it like before for consistency’s sake).
Not going to budge on WavPack though; I’m using it simply because it’s technically superior to other popular lossless audio formats (but that’s a different can of worms, and I’d rather not discuss this here).

Unpack the archive and get rid of it afterwards. Takes all of five seconds. Jesus christ.

To be honest, I don’t really give a fuck about your needs. There are no disadvantages to solid compression for me (I realize that it might be inconvenient for others), and I don’t care how much I’m (not) saving with this. I’m still using almost the exact same hackjob scripts that I’ve written for C82 (except for the cue splitter; I rewrote that one), and I’m mostly just packaging stuff for myself. Wouldn’t even be sharing it if it weren’t much more practical to use the server for that stuff (it’s got a much better internet connection).

[C84][事務員G]Stars On Planet (wv+jpg) (also fixed the chink tagging on this one)
