I'm not big into the cigarettes and typewriters crowd and I don't really have any interest in big post WW2 doorstopper novels after reading some Pynchon or DFW, but I'll occasionally check out stuff like >>21719523 listed. But mostly I'm into old stuff that takes time to read, like ancient philosophy or histories, or trying (and failing) to learn languages.

Like 2015 and communist homos have been mad about it ever since. It's what happens when high schools and publishers make literature about being gay and black and only target women. Walk into a new book store, it's manga, gay books for 16 year old tiktok users, and legos. It should not be surprising that the average /v/ user hates all of this and reacts by trying to find it's antithesis.
Also like half the threads here are made by twitter users trying to push their half-formed philosophy/opinions.

I remember the gnosticism meme being big in 2016/17.

How the FUCK is USS Millicent able to play tennis or molest Mario if she's 200kg?

What other English books have you read?

Vineland is a weird book. It's very much boomer "it's okay if your wife/mom runs away to fuck some other guy" type of shit mixed in with kung fu pulp movies and the dying culture of hippies. Pynchon also really makes it clear that he doesn't like Nixon or Reagan. It's got some stuff about TV addiction but everything just feels kind of limp when you compare it to a book like Gravity's Rainbow or MD.

The beats legitimately ruined American literature.

no one on /lit/ reads.
ITT don't talk to each other at all, just discuss a book you read.

>hard mode: you have to actually have read it
I'll go first:

Irene's Cunt:

it was a translation, so maybe I should give more credit to the translator for this, but the surreal sections of it really caught me. the lewdness was great, it makes me want to write something a little more risque and outrageous next time I write, but, like I said, the surreal bits were really the most captivating to me

For me, it's S01E05: Pynch annoys Dave by acting and dressing like him and following him around. Dave's friends start excluding him because they don't want Pynch. around. But when Pynch's own friends refuse to play with him, he puts together a plan to send Dave away to Southern California.
