I'm having trouble grappling with the lack of motivation for many of the characters, but I can't resist marveling at how vivid Marquez's prose is while managing to stay so tightly wound.

Yeah, but....that's just taking it at face value. There's a few offhand references to some 80s indie acts, but it doesn't drive the plot. If anything, the end would indicate a rejection of that attitude/scene.

I dunno if I'll ever read anymore Vonnegut. I think most of his work can be summarized as "Humanity sucks." Gets kinda tired after awhile.

The Declaration isn't a legal document either. It's not even one of the instruments that shapes American legal democracy. The Constitution does, and God isn't mentioned even once in there.

Just read this for a class. An acquired taste (definitely could have used better sequencing), but I enjoyed it in the end. I really liked how obsessed he was with the idea of time as a labyrinth and ultimate understanding being a fruitless human endeavor.

What does /lit/ think? Any other thoughts on Borges? Recommendations?

Just took a look at the Amazon page. You might want to proof it a bit more.

A fiction novel? Based on 4chan? Really? I dunno. Just thinking about reading it makes me twitch with embarrassment. I'd have honestly been more interested in a non-fiction study of the site, it's culture and the impact it has on society.
