I agree but still think it's pretty well written, facetious and rambling as it is.

Nah, one of the main characters is possessed by a spirit called a "Curse Cat" after burying a cat she found that was hit by a car. Takes over her body when she sleeps and energy saps people at night to release stress.

She's also hot.

If you don't read books and want to be a writer then you'll get no where real quick. Quickest way into the trash-can.

Since you don't read books you need to start reading books. Lots of books. And I wouldn't bother with a novel as you could be writing short stories and using those short stories to experiment with ideas and technique.

Also it will take years and years to get good and probably years more than that to be published. You have to dedicate yourself to it and the troubles it brings, it's not some thing you just decide and run with over-night.

Total originality is over-rated and nearly impossible at this point and hardly anyone expects it. I really don't understand why new writers try so hard to be "100% original' when writing is all about stealing concepts from a thousand different things and making something else out of it. You do this whether you want to or not, as you have to read. So this isn't a problem. Don't be afraid of taking ideas from other things. EVERYONE does it. Those weirdos that refuse to read so it doesn't "influence" them don't end up being worth shit.

>>6053665
People have been writing for thousands of years. This has been a thought that has ran through the minds of the successful bunches of times but it never stopped them from writing.

If you want to do it do not stop yourself, someone is always going to be "better" than you in almost anything. That's how life works. You have to actually TRY.

Originality is impossible at this point, and if you somehow manage it over-rated or indecipherable. I really don't understand why new writers try so hard to be "100% original' when writing is all about stealing concepts from a thousand different things and making something else out of it. You do this whether you want to or not, as you have to read. So this isn't a problem. You're just afraid of failure.

You're going to be shit at the start anyway. No one expects anything else.

Loosely interconnected vignettes that form a whole. Kinda. It's hard to explain.

I've never read I am a Cat but I'm planning on buying it when I work through my backlog.

As for Gangsters it's one of my favorites. It is incredibly strange (Virgil transforming into a refrigerator ala the Metamorphosis, singing vampires and people with cardboard faces) but it's hilarious.

I've been pushing it around here for a few months hoping someone else would read it. It's good shit.

Double on this one. 10 Billion days and 100 Billion nights is also good if you like ridiculous Japanese Science Fiction that meshes with Theological bullshit.
