this is awesome, thank you. judges was always one of my favorites, alongside genesis. guess i've always been a yahwist.

(why isn't yahwism a thing? a religion based on the conduct of the judges would be based as fuck)

there are a lot of specific practices and philosophies that deal with that (look east my friend). if you want to go really hardcore (don't say i didnt warn you) read chapter seven of evola's the yoga of power.

shmoneh prakim
ecce homo
the intro to saint joan (shaw) is a short work in itself and is a real pleasure to read
ego and id (one of those books that are thought provoking for me even when i disagree with them; in that category i'd also put shlomo avineri's book on marx though its not so short)
language, truth, and logic was a book that impacted me deeply when i first read it and was crucial in my intellectual development
that's all i can think of off the top of my head.

haha this post is like something a minor character in a dostoevsky book would say

don't stop to look up every reference immediatley. make a list, and look it up after every reading session. only look things up on the spot if its absolutely necessary.

it would also help a bit to know a bit of medieval history, church history, greek philosophy, and medieval philosophy

but don't sweat it, you can do a lot of the learning as you read the book

does this group work exclusively through skype?

is reading assigned books compulsory for those who want to remain in the group? if i don't care to read a specific book can i skip it and wait for the next one?

im going to sleep now, maybe tomorrow. their relationship to the concept of 'sin' which i already mentioned, is one example

the point imo isnt the 'bias'. its the fact that that kind of moralizing is extremely tiresome, and tbh in really bad taste.

their concept of "sin", to name one thing, i find to be very flawed. i prefer the eastern (this seems to be shared by multiple traditions) preference of looking at what the west would call "sin" as fault or imperfection. in general hinduism seems to be more nuanced and far more 'objective'.

ofcourse, conversion to hinduism isnt even a thing

one flew over the cuckoo's nest is the bible of "women ruining everything". every single male character in that book has a women "who ruins everything" for him.

it's not inane, their metaphysics is top notch. im still very new to this stuff tho

it's complicated for a variety of mostly internal reasons (intellectual, emotional, spiritual). too much to go into, and honestly something i should resolve myself.

are yoy a practicing christian? if so with which church are you associated?

pretty sure i'll always "dabble in eastern stuff" even if i do convert. its just too dank

i'm thinking about converting, but it's complicated. i'm looking at the eastern orthodox church atm, no relation to the thread its honestly a coincidence

fyi the yoga of power, the doctrine of awakening, and the metaphysics of sex are all excellent books.
