At least in Buddhism everything is part of the same cycle of reincarnation, so at some point demons, gods, animals, etc will be human again.

In Theravada at least some non-human entities do become followers of the Buddha but I don't think it mentions them achieving enlightenment. Theravada is pretty big on the concept of human existence providing the right balance of factors to achieve it.

in Mahayana Buddhism there's stories of non-human entitites achieving enlightenment.
