I love Bolano and DFW. But while DFW was alive when he became popular. Bolano didn't get fame till he died. Least not outside of South America.

2666 is a great novel though. SAvage Detectives just didn't mix for me. NAzi Lit was nice though.

I need to read more Bolano.

The stakeout was death. Just sitting watching the same old house. I'm pretty sure I've been therebefore. Maybe. Lisa, the perp finally exists and gets into her car. I follow for a bit until she turns of into a motel. I drive past, circle round and enter the motel carpark. My partner is sleeping so I nudge him to wake. I point to the coke machine and tell him to make himself useful. He puts his hand out for change and I rummage through my pockets... two broken cigarettes, a piece of paper with the address on it, but no change. I shrug and he exits the car mumbling. I open the book I was raeding and read a few pages till I see movement in the motel room next to where the perps car is parked. My partner is still trying to work the coke machine. I wave to get his attention and he comes back.
Suddenly the door of the motel room swings open and two mexicans; Andy Dick; Pauly Shore; a Chinese women; Lisa, the perp; and Tao Lin come running out. I don't know who to bust so I chase after Lisa, the perp. When I go to grab her the two mexicans start shooting. I shoot back, but 6 shots later my pistol is empty. My fat partner never leaves the car. He's getting fired if I live through this.

I really forgot this still exists.
