Neither, not looking hard enough. I skimmed up and somehow missed every single American. Somehow.

>not a single Murrican
Huh.

It's like you hate getting enough rest or something.

I can't generalise about what's probably a pretty large group of people. If life in general is anything to go by most of them are probably cool most of them the time.

I remember getting more annoyed by the little 'here's what this character is thinking' bits in between the dialogue. IIRC the prose was pretty damn clunky in general as well. It was a long time ago that I read it, though.

It's pretty fun to lie to internet strangers sometimes, man.

>tfw slang completely passes you by
Is this an internet thing, or a real-world thing? Also, I like the word 'tight' for literature- makes me think of something very compact and controlled. Hemingway could be called tight. DFW not so much.

>in my history class I was assigned an autobiography by some black guy who grew up in Harlem and became successful, and there was a lot of swearing and racial slurs and talking about prostitution
Iceberg Slim? That's some pretty funky history class reading...

Being a writer is about writing, yo. Saying race, patriarchy, fucking and dope are optional extras.

I thought that the trip may have been throwing people off. But I might as well call it a day; It doesn't look like anyone is going to buy me anything heh.

I swear, if anyone can get me both (or at least the first one) volumes on that list, I will be so happy. Used is fine.

As long as the used book isn't too fucked up it shouldn't be a problem. Some used one's I've bought in the past have been in pretty gud condition.
