Agreed completely. The phalanx wall to wall mowing down anything that came up to it. Awesome.

I'm so glad someone else knows the awesomeness of this work.

300 wasn't shit.

People might like to know the book and film The Warriors is very loosely based on Anabasis.

Can I start?
"Therefore baldness is not a mutilation."
Thats a good thing to know.

Pic unrelated, but good.

Thanks! It's a complicated annoying problem of formating where I have to go through every sentence and on the left side hit backspace, space, then repeat down the left side.

I've tried replacing breaks with spaces but that didn't work, so it looks like it's going to have to be manually done!

More than worth it, imo.

I'm also in the process of doing the rest of his works, but something like Metaphysics by Aristotle took a little priority over Feuerbach, as compiling Feuerbach is much easier, and I'm trying to do them in order.

I ran across the Metaphysics and it was the one huge piece of work missing from the Aristotle folder.

Seeing as how it's going to take a while anyway, I might go ahead and compile all of the Feuerbach and upload them together soon.

Thanks! I'm still having a pain with the formating on that Metaphysics by Aristotle, but after I'm done it should be formated well, with table of contents by book and part, and most importantly, a good translation that is free!

WHO USES RANDOM PARAGRAPH BREAKS ON A WORK OF ARISTOTLE?!?!?!

Sorry, rage.

>> No.1309511 [View]

Blast. It worked, just to well. It became a huge block of text.

Looks like this one will be a steady work in progress for a very long time.

>> No.1309368 [View]

>>1309272
Well, actually, it might work, but with a different input, I told it to replace the paragraph break sign with a space, it's been 'working' for close to 15 minutes now....

One can always hope.

Thanks, but it didn't work, sadly.
See where "be" is in the image on the left side? I have to hit backspace, to bring it up to "should" and then hit space, and it looks like the above text (correct) and not like the text on the bottom (not correct)

RAGE!

Here is a screenshot of what is happening. I usually do ok, but this looks like a needless waste of time if I can fix it all at once. IF I can.

Thanks!
Anyone good with Word? This moron randomly hit enter to format this translation for HTML. I tried justify, that doesn't work.

So far I'm having to go down the left doing this. Backspace, space, go down, repeat. I've been doing this for an hour and I'm on book 2 of Aristotle's Metaphysics (A must have).

Is there an easier way to do this? If I just leave it it's a MESS on the kindle and an eyesore.

If not, I'll go back to the endless thing I was doing before.

People and their formating. Jesus.

The spacing after titles took me long hours after which I said 'screw it' and got it as close as possible.

The weird double spaces seem to be a fault of the computer viewer, on my kindle I don't see them, or at least I didn't.

I wondered about adding the contents for the named numbers, but decided against it. The numbering format was the same with every source I checked, all 2 of them... so I decided to leave it unchanged, even though I must admit it does look a little odd.

When it is complete, the beta collection, the one that has unedited Gutenburg works in it, should be done in a few weeks, I hope less, with the rate I'm working at.

I'll be uploading it everywhere I can. Demonoid probably, but with the size of the non-pdf's, I might upload it to file sharing sites as well.

Thank you for your input!

Only if I can't come by them in ebook form, which is rare.

I read faster, and enjoy it much more on my kindle than reading a physical book.

I don't read to have a collection to show off (sad, btw.) nor do I read to smell paper. I read to read.

hmmm, I'll upload to demonoid now.

I can convert it to mobi, but they are more or less the same format. The PRC filename was the originally used name, they later changed it to mobi to reflect the mobipocket name.

Another difference is that .prc is simply a 'container' file, it can be made of anything, technically, but it's only used for ebooks.

For all our purposes, however, it is essentially the same.

This might offend some people, but I believe it might be because I posted this earlier in the day.

Maybe the people with day jobs are the ones most interested in philosophy? In any case I posted it in the other thread as well, and it will be in the final collection.

>> No.1308615 [View]

I'll never understand this.

I grew up in a library. I'm 26 now and have never missed the smell of books since getting my Kindle. Reading is reading. This argument has always been silly. What does it matter what you read letters on? It doesn't. The words are the same.

15 Authors are done already! I'm having great trouble with finding anything but PDF's for some of this stuff, or translations. Converting PDF's to txt is not an option due to the... terrible formating issues. Unless there is some amazing program out there that makes pdf to txt legible.

I posted this in another thread, but here is something I'm proud of

Principles of the Philosophy of the Future by Ludwig Feuerbach KINDLE EDITION

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L9U2YJAF

Compiled and edited, spell checked, and formated, added linkable table of contents. I'm pretty sure it's the only one of it's kind.
