I'm glad someone will pick it up! Cheers.

Bah, noticed some lazy periods after the table of contents titles. That will teach me to double check auto TOC's.

Hi, I'm the idiot making the huge Kindle format collection of Philosophy essentials, but I couldn't wait for this one.

I'm pretty sure it is the only one of it's kind. The only properly formated and edited version of Feuerbach's Principles of the Philosophy of the Future.

This one was even hard to find it dreaded PDF format.

I had to go to an old HTML dump that was on many pages, compile, spell check, format, build a a working Table of Contents, and compile.

This work has brought me much satisfaction.

I was wondering if those with Kindle's or other e-readers that support PRC could give me some input? I know the first page has a big break in it, but otherwise?

Thank you for your time, and pick this rarity up!

You must be saying this in hopes the OP would get spurned by your comment, thus leading him to finish his project. Or you're a bad troll.

12 names are done, in the initial grabbing process, all in folders by name and alphabetized. I will have to go into each mobi, "break" it open, and remove/write a little HTML here and there, but anything to get rid of the idiotic endless pages of legal spew from Gutenberg.

Next would be making the ones I can't find into mobi, properly formated.

If anyone is interested in a 'before clean up' release to help me see what essentials I need that I'm missing (and there are some right now) or what I currently have that isn't needed (less work formating) just let me know, and I'll make a thread when the first round up has been done.

Added to the list, thanks!

This sounds great, I would love to get some names.

I will say 6 of them are done, and half will be easy to find, the other will take most of my time, but I'm having fun hunting them down.

Right now it's so touch and go, some I have to dig deeper on, some I will have /lit/ review and tell me if I need to dig deeper to find something if it is a 'must have' by the author.

I'm doing a once over to grab the easy stuff, and making notes in a separate file on which ones I will return to and get more on/make into proper ebooks from html/text files.

Principles of the Philosophy of the Future - Feuerbach

I just edited it all from random HTML's, manually spell checked it which uncovered massive amounts of errors that are fixed now, I do not yet have the bookmarks in this one but it is at least all together in mobi format.

I think my brain has almost caved in at the extreme dullness of spell checker.

In any case, I've got at least ONE work of his in the collection now.

If I included everything that ever influenced a philosopher... well....

I said in the OP that I would not be including 'fringe' philosophy, and I do not think anyone reads the bible for philosophical reasons alone.

If people want to broaden the scope and go outside of just the works of philosophy, then that is their choice. A good one, I admit, but something this collection will not cover.

Unless there will be a huge outcry at the exclusion of religious texts, they will not be in this collection.

Well, Buddhism is more of a religion than Taoism is, as Taoism is more of an idea than a religion.

I will give it considerable thought!

On many of these, I have to wait on sources to pop back up, and then format them into mobi. So I will just go through them all, finding the ones I can find, and then going back and digging for the rest.

A lot of the German ones I'm having trouble finding translations of, the ban of all of this is that most are easy to find in bloated, stupid, hard to read and idiotic to navigate, PDF's.

I highly agree, when I am done hunting them all down, I will ask /lit/ to classify as best they can. If by nothing else other than age/era

This goes faster than I thought.
Four are done already, and I haven't spent much time on it.

I will be including anything that is considered philosophy. I'm not going to be biased as this will be a go to collection of philosophy.

I find it hilarious that the more popular names here are the hardest to find. I will never understand why people are so hard up for PDF. I guess because it's simple to scan things and be done with it.

Thank you! Added to the list.

Correct, I was just adding that I would be doing research on some of the people I don't know about, I didn't mean to imply Schopenhauer was not philosophy.

Sounds good.
Just to make the quality of the collection/torrent good, I will be researching each name to make sure it is indeed "Philosophy"

Well, I am on Thanksgiving break, but this project seems like it will take quite a while, depending on how many works it will have in it.

Without the editing and chapter points, less than a week, with, maybe a month or so, hopefully less.

It means complete, or as complete as I can get it, and I will strive to make sure it is.

Any more can be added, I'll be checking the thread randomly, and be posting updates and the completed work.

This is another reason I made this thread. That image of works is horrible. Randomly placed nonsense and half collections, or multiple works under one new made up name for them.

I gathered what I could from it.

I used Gutenburg as a reference, I will of course find and edit works that cannot be found on there as well.

I'll pass on The Stranger for this collection, but I must say I did enjoy it.

I will be uploading on Demonoid, but I don't care where it's spread or shared as I just want people to have an easy way to get all of this for e-readers. I will also be removing the billions of legal pages gutenburg throws in there. Thanks for the contribution!
>>1305186
Exactly. Finding properly formated works of philosophy for e-readers is really hard.

>>1305177
Awesome post, thanks. I figure I will take out as much of the legal garbage of gutenburg, compile all these as best as possible, then, if they are not correctly formated for chapter links, I will add them myself.
>>1305175
Is The Stranger really considered a work of philosophy?
