You know, this is going to sound like a silly recommendation, but Existential texts really helped my through that phase. Sure, Nausea worsened my mental state, but Kierkegaard's 'The Present Age' really got me thinking.

Brownbear, I'm beggining to feel concerned about you. It started out where, in all your stories you were simply quite pompous. But, with each sequential story you seem to be more 'bothered' by the events, true or not. Is it really that you're becoming more alienated and perhaps experiencing depersonalization?

10/10 as always though. Excellent read.

Catch 22 is simple to read, but the logic used takes getting used to. For all intents and purposes it shouldn't be compared to any of the other books you've mentioned.

To be honest, the only way to figure out if you like it is to try it. You probably won't dislike it unless you either can't wrap your head around it, or you would rather not.

Also there's some Spanish and other languages, but you should be able to glean the meaning from the surrounding text.

Kierkegaard had some very interesting things to say about religion. Of course, he would agree with you that Christianity in The Present Age (:V) is terrible, but I don't know if he'd approve of you. However, it depends on how inward you are, not your religious beliefs.

I'd say depressed and sad are two very different emotions in relation to literature. To feel both is to be indescriminant, to essentially be so invested in characters because you've let yourself freely associate and invest yourself in the character's fates. For example, Nausea made me feel horrible, but it's the kind of horrible that comes without sadness. As per books that made me sad, a long time ago The Giver made me sad, but I did not base my mental state off of such a 'physical' book.
