Evola is literally New Age for right wingers. Yeah, he puts an intellectual veneer on his work, and creates a patina of authority by painting his work with a syncretic blend of esoteric and mystical traditions. It's a higher class version of Tik Tok crystal witches, akin to the Kybalion or Crowley.

Note that this stuff was never, ever on /lit/ until 2016. The entire wave of Evola interest comes from a reality TV star's run for President, and that his obese, slob, fraud (now fired) strategist named dropped Evola, which in turn triggered the libs over "fascism!" That's the intellectual origins. And of course, we know Bannon didn't even have those convictions in invoking Evola, since he since went on to create a charity to "build the wall," that was a massive fraud scheme, taking donations from Trump's base and using it on boats and houses.

Ironic side.bote, despite being caught red handed discussing money laundering on WhatsApp, Trump pardoned him for defrauding his base, but pardoned not one supporter from Jan 6th.

Guenon is more like Joseph Campbell, but with more mysticism and an appealing right wing bent.

Philosophy discussions here are occasionally ok, and I've gotten good sources at times. Still, it's mostly Wikipedia level knowledge being bandied about to "win" arguments. Whole vast traditions of philosophy get dismissed based on surface level understanding of criticisms. The most common thing to see is someone thinking the one philosopher they've read seriously, probably because they got him in a survey level course, answered everything and is the be all and end all of philosophy. We definetly Plotonius and Schopenhauer guys in this vein, and if they are on, you can expect any thread even tangentially related to philosophy will get derailed by assertions that the one guy answered this all.

Best thing about /lit/ for philosophy is the bait posts. Pic related is true art.

Right now, there's a giant black hole in my brain. It's filled with trivia, reading abstracts of studies, unconsciously giving merit to "science says" articles. Typical brainlet bullshit. I want to ascend beyond that. If one size fits all doesn't exist, I'd be ok with recommendations about
- historical scepticism (what history is given as facts, but it's built upon shoddy foundations)
i liked some of Tolstoys ramblings about the great man theory
- on the scientific method
- statistics, so I get to discredit social "science" studies made to push an agenda
- any type of meta-science commentaries from philosophers (as long as they're kinda brainlet friendly)

wtf is the future of intellectual thought? Univerities have been at Stalinist levels of censorship for the past 5-10 years at least and its only going to get worse. No one actually intelligent or interested in doing anything interesting or revolutionary is going to have any interest or even the ability to do what they want their. Wtf is gonna happen? Is just no intellectual progress going to be made at all beyond just the odd twitter profile or blog that says smart things? Is 4chan unironically the vanguard of all future western intellectual movements? Are there any examples of what is occuring now in history that can shed some light on what we can expect?
