What's the fix? How does this chart look in 20 years?

As a librarian, this woman makes me sick. Literacy is declining. Information literacy is all but gone with the general public. However, they focus on feel good garbage that doesn't matter, with many of them happy to see censorship with things they do not like. The gay lobby is will continue very well without her display.

Is there any way to fix the literacy issue in the US? I'm barely out of college, and very few people I know read books anymore. As for those who do read, the books are often surface level literature, or the low quality stuff you'd see in a bookstore bargain bin. What can be done?

All these angry replies. As someone who lived and taught summer classes in the Detroit suburbs (not the preppy, all white ones, but the mixed ones) I can confirm. There's an absolute lack of appreciation/respect for studying and reading in inner city "black" culture. Ghetto rats will be the terminal cancer of the U.S. For anyone who's ever seen a racial map of the U.S., compare it with this.
