So obviously you're being filtered by the narrative chapters, instead of whale biology and labour history of whaling. Given you've got a solid background in 19th century commercial sea-faring and ecology, you need to up your understanding of apocalyptic christianity.

To do this you need to understand Sauline christian narratives. So obviously you need to read about Mystery Cults and Greek Tragic Theatre. Starting with the gospels will just spoil you because of the Aramaic topic, whereas they're actually just Greek plays.

One time I went to a barnes and nobles bookstore with a bunch of friends and while I was there I started having stomach issues.
