I have noticed /lit/ is able to produce the best insults or put downs of any board on 4chan.

Would like to see what is the best insult you can create right now and what is the most poetic or exemplar insult you have heard?

Hey /lit/,

Since I can't think of a better board to begin such a thread, post your favourite interesting/humorous quotes from history!

"The machine-gunners' dreams of point blank fire into serried masses of Emus were soon dissipated. The Emu command had evidently ordered guerrilla tactics..."
- Dominic Louis Serventy (1904-1988), Australian ornithologist commenting on the Great Emu War, a failed military operation intended to cull the emu population

"But, are they allowed to do that?"
- Ferdinand I (1793-1875), in response to being told the Viennese marching on the palace were making a revolution

Does anyone finding themselves subconsciously mimicking the style of whatever book they last enjoyed.

When it comes to films and shows I enjoy I find that I start mimicking the language of the characters. For example, after watching the Thick of It I swore a lot more for some reason. Similarly, after reading I find my vocabulary imitates whatever I last enjoyed. So after reading Don Quixote by language became more ornate and flowery. After reading DeLillo it was colder and more minimalist.

Anyone else get the same thing?

Writers of /lit/, how do you choose to write your work?

I think I am one of the few people who prefer to handwrite things. Typewriters are a pain to use and I've always found staring at a screen off-putting when writing. It also helps with editing as I type everything up and edit it as I do so.
