There are more tangled alliances than at any point in living memory, pushing the possibilities of global cooperation to their limit. Nations are stockpiling weapons which are more destructive than any ever used previously. Aging populations are triggering labor shortages, which are resulting in higher prices, rising inflation, and all the civil turbulence that comes with that. And of course don’t forget rising rates of nationalism, unrealistic techno-optimism, generational stark declines in religiosity, and the introduction of a new and destabilizing information technology. My take is that the first truly global conflict is on the horizon.
