“‘I’m going to eat you’, says the cat.

“‘You can’t’, replies the mouse.

“‘And why not?’

“‘Cats don’t eat cats. It’s impossible as a matter of instinct and as a matter of principle. I’m a cat myself, whatever else I may look like’.

“The cat rolls over laughing. It laughs so hard it’s clawing the air and its white furry belly is heaving. Then it gets up and starts to eat the mouse. The mouse protests.

“‘What are you eating me for?’

“‘Because you’re a mouse’.

“‘I’m a cat. Cats don’t eat cats’.

“‘You’re a mouse’.

“‘I’m a cat’.

“‘Prove it’.

“So the mouse jumps into the laundry tub, all with suds, and drowns itself. The cat wets a forepaw and has a lick. The suds taste horrible. So it leaves the body floating there. We all know why the cat goes off without eating the mouse. Because it’s not something for a cat to eat.

“That’s what I’m talking about. The mouse commits suicide to establish itself. It doesn’t of course make the cat recognize it as a cat, and it didn’t think when it killed itself that it would. But it was brave and perceptive and filled with self-respect. I saw that there are two parts to mouseness. First is that it is a mouse in every physical detail. Second is that it is, for a cat, worth eating. Those two. It has long ago given up in the first matter, but in the second there is still hope. It dies in front of the cat without being eaten, and it establishes itself as something that cats don’t eat. In those two respects it has proved it wasn’t a mouse. That much. To prove besides that it was a cat is simple. If something that had the form of a mouse wasn’t a mouse, then it can be anything else. And so the suicide is a success. The mouse had established itself. What do you think?”.

How does one get over the FOMO of not reading every day? Today I just don't have a reading headspace and it's quite stressful because it feels like I have to read no matter what. Does anyone else feel the same way?

The best thing about killing is that it is a form of charity available to all regardless of their economic status. Tell me, which do you think weighs more: A million dollar donation, or a woman and her child murdered on Christmas day? The killer has infinitely more charitable potential than the meek financial contributor. Killing one rapist, one thug, one drug dealer, one single evil man contributes more good to the world than you could ever hope to accomplish in your entire life. Every person you bring a smile to could have that selfsame smile crushed with a baseball bat the next day.

This sort of moral conundrum is constantly running through my mind. At times I wanted to take out a massive life insurance policy (one I could not hope to make the monthly payments for, but with enough savings to make it past the suicide clause duration) and have the money donated post-suicide to people in need. Yet this sort of charity accomplishes little. Even 8 million dollars is not worth one person's senseless suffering, and I can't help but realize that in a single moment all the happiness that would have come from that donation will be undone by one evil man.

>“Yes, Your Highness. It refers to loyalty. Suppose I make steaming rice balls with rice so hot it burns my hands. My sole purpose is to present them to His Majesty, to offer them in his sacred presence. Now as to the outcome. If his Majesty is not hungry, he will curtly refuse my offering or perhaps he may even be pleased to say: ‘Am I to eat food so tasteless?’ and hurl it into my face. In which case I will have to withdraw, the grains of rice still clinging to my face, and gratefully cut open my stomach at once. Then, again, if His Majesty is hungry and is pleased to eat the rice balls with satisfaction, there will still be no course of action open to me but to withdraw at once and gratefully cut open my stomach. Why? To make rice balls to serve as food for His Sacred Majesty with hands so common is a sin worthy to be punished with a thousand deaths. But, then, suppose I were to make rice balls as an offering but keep them in my hands and not present them, what would happen then? After a while the rice would certainly rot. This, too, would be an act of loyalty, I suppose, but I would call it a loyalty without courage. Courageous loyalty belongs to the man who, with no fear of death, dares to present the rice balls that he has thus made with single-minded devotion.”
>“While knowing he’s sinning? Is that what he’s to do?”
>“Yes, Your Highness. The gentlemen of the military, Your Highness foremost among them, are indeed fortunate. For the soldier’s loyalty rests in casting away his life in obedience to the Emperor’s commands. But in the case of an ordinary civilian, he must be prepared to sin by reason of his unsanctioned loyalty.”
>“‘Obey the law’—isn’t that a command of His Majesty? And the law courts— they are, after all, His Majesty’s courts.”
>“The sins I refer to have nothing to do with the law. And the greatest sin is that of a man who, finding himself in a world where the sacred light of His Majesty is obscured, nevertheless determines to go on living without doing anything about it. The only way to purge this grave sin is to make a fiery offering with one’s own hands, even if that itself is a sin, to express one’s loyalty in action, and then to commit seppuku immediately. With death, all is purified. But as long as a man goes on living, he can’t move either right or left, or take any action whatever, without sinning.”

This. But also the Apostles of Christ, many Catholic and Orthodox Christians, some protestants, many Muslims, etc. Mishima is still one of the greatest, if not the single great example due to the amount of writings that we can be certain came from him and the actions that he took. There is nothing that confirms the authenticity of a belief more than the willingness to die for it.

I used to be a moderator for another chan whose name is filtered on this site. It didn't run on the Yotsuba php but I'm assuming the source code was similar. With our interface a board mod could see posts by IP and ban by IP across their own board. They could also delete all posts made by that IP on the board. Global mods can see posts across all boards by IP but they don't have access to the actual IPs, which are hashed. Board mods can also message each other through the interface, and all punitive actions are logged

Well, Mishima used his last effort to try to awaken the japanese spirit in the soldiers of the base he tried to make his coup d'etat. When he realized that the japanese spirit was dead, even among those strong young men in the military (idealized by him, because he thought in the army he could found people with a natural inclination to his doctrine of Tradition), he knew that the world no longer had a place for him. Since that point to the future, men like Mishima will be rejected and mocked. So he decided to commit seppuku, as an honorable way to leave this world. He wasnt going to die on combat like a hero, and he will not decrease until his death of old age. Therefore, the only way was suicide in the manner of the tradition of the samurai.
It's a /lit/ death from every angle

I resent the coddling of minorities by the left, because I AM ONE. Not only does it foster division among the working class because each and every person consider themselves a sad story these days, but creates resentment towards me personally.
And they patronize everyone. They patronize whites over their supposed "privilege", they patronize me because apparently I am "disadvantaged" and "oppressed", supposing that I am too weak to make it in one of the greatest countries on the planet. I am fucking furious at the glorification of victims and victimhood, at their undeserved narcissism being validated. I want to rip a firestorm into all these people, as they are treating me as if I have no agency or force of will. I am disgusted over how mentally and physically weak they and their pets are, while simultaneously full of undeserved conviction and sense of superiority. I despise these people on a spiritual level, even more than any white nationalist does.

It's not earned happiness, and in fact, happiness is overrated. What matters more to a HUMAN BEING is purpose.
Also, key fact is that the "people" in Brave New World are "happy" in the way that a cattle or a lobotomized person is "happy". Theirs is not a happiness that has arisen from a genuine understanding of being human, or of knowing the world, but from shutting off those parts that seek to know either. They're "happy", because their perception of reality has become obscured so that only the most shallow and superficial aspects of existence remain.

I want the right to be unhappy, to be filled with destructive emotions and insatiable passions. I want struggle and pain, because I want a reason to exert my potential against something, anything, FOR something.

Intense and passionate people, whose energies are so extreme it may lead them to self destruction. He's the antithesis of the banal comfort oriented existence that is so dominant in our world. The most reliable way to be opposite of Mishima is to be reasonable and drab.

>I don't want to end up like him
Cringe. Like you ever will be an iota close to a man that spoke multiple languages, wrote some of the best works of the 20th century, and whose works served as prelude and ideological fodder for his final act.

>The team went to the battlefield for the interviews because they wanted to speak with the soldiers while events were still fresh in their minds.

>The team asked the soldiers the same question Stouffer asked in his 1949 study: "Generally, in your combat experience, what was most important to you in making you want to keep going and do as well as you did.”

>American soldiers in Iraq responded similarly to their ancestors about wanting to return home, but the most frequent response given for combat motivation was “fighting for my buddies,” Wong’s report said.
