It's actually fun to read.

90% of the /it/ approved material is pretentious and boring, and only recommended so retards can pretend to be smart.

Anyone else ever read these as a kid? When I think back to my early ventures into the world of literature I am immediately reminded of Redwall. At the age of 12 or 13, Brian Jacque's world was to me a perfect platter of adventure and intrigue, without compromising the maturity of the characters and their relationships with each other. I do not understand why authors who write with the young reader in mind oft think him incapable of understanding situations beyond the extremely simplistic and fickle. I want to thank Brian Jacques for proving that a book can be kid-friendly, without being childish.

Redwall series
It's supposed to be a kids series, but the author dident quite grasp the concept of "kiddie"

>undertones of Christianity and crusades
>heroes treated as if the master races (mice, badgers, moles, ect)
>villains treated as dumbasses and inferior (rats, foxes, weasels, etc)
>village always die horribly
>good guys always win
Only real flaw is that everyone's dialog is phoneticly written in a thick Scottish borugh for no reason and it gets hard to understand without context

I'm feeling kinda bummed out right now. Anyone got any suggestions for comfy books to read?
