Going through an extremely tough breakup now with the woman I thought was to bear my my children. Is there any lit that will help me through this turmoil, or at least resonate deeply in such a raw emotional state?

What is wrong with women?
Why are they attracted to gimmicks like physical books?

To be fair, i don't blame authors for doing this, due to the following:

1 - The life of the vast majority of people is only becoming more and more commodified, predictable and limited with the consolidation of neoliberal globohomo, the scientific management of mankind and the culture of conformity;

2 - The average person (even atheists) is completely deluded about the nature of the World and wouldn't be able to enjoy truly realistic stories, chastising them for being, "cynical" or "boring";

3 - Not only are the truths of nihilism, determinism, and materialism finally beginning to reach the average person's ears, but there is also the fact that while we have yet to explore the Universe, it is unlikely that there will be intelligent life in a reachable distance, limiting the breadth of "exploration" to simply observing strange landscapes, not quite satisfactory.
Overall, stories focused on wonder, discovery and/or adventure are practically impossible to set in the Real World;

Even the vast majority of stories that are supposedly "dark" and "realistic" just because the characters suffer alot or the story is supposedly "set in the Real World", portray settings that are directly preferable to living in the Real World, since atleast in them life has some semblance of meaning, mystery/magic, freedom and/or novelty:
- Hints of transcendental good which to grant life meaning. IE: The christian nature of Dostoevsky's stories, any story made by the Greeks, etc.
- Hints of transcendental evil which to struggle against. IE: Judge Holden, Heart of Darkness, etc.
- Hints of mysterious things beyond the mundane World which to seek and discover. IE: Any story written by superstitious authors.
- Hints of free will, denying that we are slaves to our brain chemistry and equivalent to robots, the existential nightmare that our minds, our personalities, are simply chemical reactions and can and will be easily modified by external agents with or without consent as neuroscience advances. IE: Practically any story written before the 1900s.
- Characters with unrealistically or freakishly eventful lives. IE: Pynchon's novels, Ulysses, Kafka, American Psycho, etc.

It is dishonest to even claim any of these stories are even "set in the Real World" the Real World isn't just defined by its' suffering, but also by its' meaninglessness, predictability and lack of wonder and adventure

Yeah, it's near impossible to come up with something entirely original. What I've done personally is a thorough study of auhors closests to my natural storytelling instinct (Poe, Kafka, Burroughs, Ligotti etc.), attempting to find patters of how they deal with character creations and plots, then settle for a pattern to start off with. That's about 30%, then another 30% is based on real life experience with various low lifes and loose women, then 40% just imagination - the horror elements.
