Pure philosophy doesn't equate to a job other than teaching others philosophy or writing papers in academia which requires a PhD, grants, fellowships, a reputation, and a stack of high quality research. Outside that it's the foundation of other studies and applied sciences. Law or psychology are the closest avenues for you and they're both very good. You may also try computer science if you have an affinity for formal logic.

I'm surprised you're just now figuring this out and I don't think what you're saying is genuine at all. This is probably a bot post or some baiting retard.

>bad thing happen
>feel bad about thing
>read old man aurelius's book of life advice
>don't feel bad about thing anymore

I feel like the answer was pretty obvious here.

People can talk themselves into believing in an infinite, omnipotent being –– I can talk myself into being infinetely confident, right? Asking for a friend.

I'm so, so very tired of moral relativism.

I understand the pitfalls of black and white morality and how it can be abused by evil people to inflict suffering into innocents, but moral relativism's inevitable descent into degeneracy is far worse.

I am once again ready for a world where it is clear as day who is evil and who isn't.

It literally solved nothing.

It only introduced further problems into society.

If you're questioning why people hate atheism, there's something wrong with you.

Can someone explain it to me? Is it sophistication? Elegance? Readability?

Which of these two has the better prose and why?

1:
>"He spoke and quickly ended the argument. There was no room for rebuttal, so she left the room."
2:
>"He had delivered a quietus to their argument. Seeing no recourse, she resolved to excuse herself."

How does his argument not fall to pieces by simply disagreeing with him?

I'm a person who's suffered a lot in life yet I would still prefer my life over not having lived at all. There are loads of people out there who have experienced suffering yet continued on because living is worth it.

How can he pretend to have authority on whether human life should subsist or not in spite of this? It then becomes something born of simple malice rather than altruism.

A lot of people here have said that that Bakker is great but his characters are autistic set pieces for the philosophy shit or something to that effect.

Is that true? Is there something that's the OPPOSITE of that where the characters and story are extremely emotional and melodramatic even?

mankind is a wild animal. sometimes it is peaceful, sometimes bloodthirsty, in constant change. there is no medicine against this disease. what once lowered the fever can fuel it another time. if you think you've figured it out, the world turns upside down. war is inevitable, you must always be aware of that. inactivity thus becomes the highest virtue. the good kindles the bad, the bad the good. for both, inactivity is like damp straw. it makes the fire ignite more slowly. thus it prolongs the quiet times. nothing more can be done. if the war sets the world on fire, not even damp straw will help. this is how nature is designed.

Do what you say you want to do. Step by step, you get closer to your dream. Also the journey is enjoyable, after you have dried your tears. Many memories, much movement.
