So what's up with A Little Cloud in Dubliners? The end where he cries like the baby is obviously showing his immaturity, but what's the guy's real problem? I took it as critique of dissatisfied people with romantic ideas that make them unhappy: Chandler has a stable job, a wife, and a son, he's not well-off but not impoverished either. His life is fairly decent, yet he wishes he was like his friend who lives abroad and goes drinking all the time, which is implied to be taking a toll on his health.
