Ok mr west, cool opinion but I have to respectfully disagree. Good books make me feel great and are rewarding to me mentally and spiritually. Then again I also just love language in general and some good prose or meter are very pleasing to me

existence is not beautiful, it if horrifying. there is no such thing as beauty. everything you enjoy is just an attempt of your biology to prolong your life and spread your genes. if you were able to remove the veil your evolutionary drives place on your eyes, you would see that women are repulsive, the act of sex and procreation is mind numbingly disgusting, and every form of physical closeness with other humans is offputting. you can notice these things easily in other life forms, like dogs, or fish, or insects, but when it comes to human women, your body tricks you with hormones to cover your senses, so you can act like a brainless animal for long enough to do the deed. you are a slave to your biology, yet you pretend to find happiness in submitting to it. you are a product of genetic codes you did not choose, yet you are separate from this code, and you possess the ability to reject or submit to these base drives and impulses. impulses you share with the lowliest life forms, mind. is it noble to act upon them? no more would that make you noble, than it does a dog or a snake to act on their drives. does it make you good to reject them? not necessarily, as such a decision might just be the result of a broken code. is it good to live? is it bad to die? i don't really know. i just don't like it here.

The only positive thing I can say about this series is this: I don't regret having read it. But that is mainly because I never regret my choices in life, no matter how ill informed they turn out to be.

Since you are a genre fag, I'll give you my thoughts on the plot and characters, and leave the prose and themes.
>Plot
Jordan very clearly lost control of his own creation early on. The more he wrote, the more he tried to expand the story, and his lack of control left him with multiple storylines that ended up being unnecessary, unsatisfying, needlessly drawn out. He wanted to keep all the main characters engaged while also driving the main conflict towards the end, but in trying to do this, he had to fill their time with random bullshit that you don't even remember a few chapters later. Even the 3 main boys end up having storylines across multiple books that lead nowhere. In short, the plot is generally shitty.
>Characters
There are literally hundreds of named characters in this behemoth of ink and paper, yet the only ones that are close to interesting or relatable are Rand and Moridin. Mat is a fucking meme, and Perrin went to shit after his arc in the Two Rivers ended. All the Wondergirls are irredeemable, with Nynaeve being an occassional exception. Rand is, however, generally well written, despite his autism regarding women.
Do I recommend reading it? I guess you should, if you can be bothered to. It's not particularly good, but then, few things are.
