I’m currently at home recovering from a broken ankle, I have all the time to waste. Meanwhile, you’re actively engaging a dude who is doing nothing but making jokes about banging your mom, and you keep coming back for more. Do you like the thought of me banging your mom or something? Does it get you off?

>This is my way of stacking the deck in my favor.
This is my way of sticking my dick in your mom’s favor (ie, her pussy)

> We can just reject all those philosophers, psychologists and novelists and just go "enjoy" fantasy.
Correct. human nature is something not to be understood but to be lived and embodied. People who try to understand human nature are people who don’t know how to live. Go outside, touch grass. Read fantasy for fun. Problem solved.

I’m in the process of hashing out the details of a complex time-travel mechanic for a piece of science-fiction writing. The problem is that it’s so complicated that the challenge of writing it as fiction, rather than an Asimov-style academic spoof, seems almost insurmountable. I think it’s a pretty unique and interesting idea, I’m just not sure how to frame it in terms of narrative. I have a strong background in both philosophy and literature, but my approach to writing tends a lot more towards the former than the latter. Does anyone know of any examples of fictional narratives constructed from pseudo-academic texts?

you seem (like most of our peers on this miserable site) trapped in your isms when viewing the world, this quote if anything is merely an affirmation of its the little things in life that make the difference. Life is what you make it and you'd do well to learn to enjoy it from time to time.

>I knew a father who was a stern, austere man, but used to go down on his knees to his daughter, used to kiss her hands, her feet, he couldn't make enough of her, really. When she danced at parties he used to stand for five hours at a stretch, gazing at her. He was mad over her: I understand that! She would fall asleep tired at night, and he would wake to kiss her in her sleep and make the sign of the cross over her. He would go about in a dirty old coat, he was stingy to everyone else, but would spend his last penny for her, giving her expensive presents, and it was his greatest delight when she was pleased with what he gave her. Fathers always love their daughters more than the mothers do. Some girls live happily at home! And I believe I should never let my daughters marry.

You have a son. Would you rather he:

a) grew up reading Harry Potter, Tolkien, and Marvel Comics, watching a little anime on the side, catching Pokemon, and also reading standard fluff assigned at school, Harper Lee, Toni Morrison, Anne Frank, Margaret Atwood, et al

b) spent all his time watching and playing sports, fucking around with firearms with his chums, and failing school
