I've self-published 10 books on Kindle since 2009. I write a new book every year or two. It's something of a compulsion for me to be working on a novel. I suppose it's a hobby because it's something I've done in my free time, although I'd love to have more readers and sales. I gave up on traditional publishing years ago.
I do everything myself, from editing to covers. I have paid for a few covers over the years but I've done most myself.
My best month in earnings was $592.41. This year, I've been averaging about $300 a month; although, I took out text ads on Amazon and I paid for Goodreads Giveaways for my new book, so that's been taking a cut of my meager earnings.
In the early days of Kindle, it was easy to get reviews, but with my newest book that I published a couple months ago, I've gotten five ratings and no reviews so far despite a couple hundred free book giveaways.
People are reading my newest book on KENP, which is Kindle's subscription reading service. They read about 400 pages a day, which gives me about $1.70 a day for that book. I think KENP pays $0.004 a page. I've had a couple 1,000 page days.
According to Kindle Direct Publishing, I've made $33,446.52 on my books since 2009.
I recently left my full-time occupation because I didn't want the vax so I'm trying to figure out if I can make a living off writing somehow. Some indie writers have pulled off big incomes. They seem to be very good at self-promotion or are outright scammers. I'm pretty terrible at self-promotion and hate social media, so I have that going against me.
I would encourage you to self-publish. Don't spend a lot of money on all the scammers who want to help you. There's a whole industry out there trying to milk indie writers of their last penny. Try to do as much on your own as you can. Find friends that are willing to read your work and catch errors. Try to find and build an audience. If you are good with self-promotion, you might make some money, but don't quit your day job like I just did. Actually, I got out of the military, so I'm trying to figure out where to go next in this new civilian reality I find myself in. Maybe selling my books on street corners. Good luck to you, anon.

I just self-published my latest novel about a soldier who uses lucid dreaming to alter reality. Still haven't gotten any reviews yet other than one five-star rating on Goodreads so far. I feel that it's my best work. Used to make money pretty easily with sci-fi in the early days of Kindle, but the e-book market is so saturated now it's harder to get noticed by readers.

I wrote this novel based loosely on my recent deployment to the Middle East. My book is about an Army staff officer for a combat aviation brigade who doesn't want the vax and is under tremendous pressure from his command. The pressure starts affecting his dreams. I left the military because of all the vaccine bs.

This one is about a soldier who becomes a dream wizard after learning how to remember his dreams and control them. At night in his dreams, he flies around, has sex with hot women, then travels forward and backward in time. He uses his dreams to shape and change his reality. It was recently released by sci-fi author Gus Flory.

Any thoughts on this book? It's about a soldier who sees his friend's health deteriorate after taking the vax. The soldier refuses the vax. JAG comes after him to destroy him for disobeying a direct order. The soldier starts having intense dreams. In these dreams he meets Alexander the Great, Ben Franklin and Jesus Christ. He comes up with the Dreamgame system which enables him to have lucid dreams. He flies around, has sex with whoever he wants. Then he becomes a Dream Wizard. He travels backward and forward in time and develops new mental abilities. Then he evolves into a new type of human. It's free right now on Kindle. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC961KV5
