I am smart and creative, unfortunately, this doesn't produce books that sell.

No one has any idea what they're doing and entire world is ran by people pretending that they know what they're doing.

Your parents had no idea what they're doing.

You have no idea what you're doing.

The world is a speeding bus and the driver is in a diabetic coma.

This is one of the most uncomfy books in existence. The entire book about disconnection and alienation from one's sense of home and belonging. It is about how time makes people and places grow apart, about how even the stasis of a rural village can move on without you. It's dry and bare style matches the stultifying presence of the simple rural hills (and yet, Eel's life in America is just as sterile), and it's ponderous idleness only lowers your guard towards a gut-punch of a climax. I don't know how you call the same book with that marriage scene 'comfy'. It is a slow rot, personally, socially, and spiritually. To me, the whole book is a choking barrenness interwoven with a sense of incredible melancholy. It is very discomforting. That it can evoke such feelings makes it a great piece of art, but far from 'enjoyable'.

>isn't Prufrock a comic about a guy realizing he fucking failed at life and how he is becoming old and bald without anything good happening in his life?
Yes. That is true horror.

Winds probably won't ever be published. Dream certainly will never be written. It's an enjoyable book series, but you'll have to go in knowing that it's for the ride and not the destination.

These days it's stuff like The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock that fills me with dread, not this >>19288116 kind of horror.

In essence, the internet-sphere of the mid-10's "hit the wall" of youthful exuberance and are now in the "reconciling with time and society" phase of their lives. To some, they deny it and carry on a perpetual adolescence, to others a collapse into nihilism and bitterness as their hopes are slowly betrayed by time. And some, i assume, have healthily adapted. But none of these can be considered cool. That baton has been reluctantly passed to zoomers who fumbled it and are in the process of dropping it completely.
The frontier has moved past the internet, which now shares the fate of all ex-frontier towns: to trade daring for dullness in comfort and security.

I’d like to read a book that is very melancholy but the author conveys a glimmer of hope at the same time. What would you recommend to me?

I assume she means that it would give women power by holding men to ransom with sex i.e. that men would have to cow to women to assure their willies don't get bitten off. But in reality, it would be more likely that societies would have developed with some fgm tooth extraction tradition because men are still stronger than women and don't want to have their willies bitten off. So the world wouldn't actually be all that different, except women would go through more pain.

Be patient newfag. The threads will start popping up nov/dec, there will be more than one of them which will cause petty compitintion, it will be run by a retard, the link will be posted on reddit/discord//pol/ who will spam meme books, the anon running it will make a chart without filtering the memeshit, anons will bemoan the state of the board and how everything is in delcine, then an anon will make a chart filtering the memeshit which will cause even more butthurt, then anons will pointlessly argue which chart is the "true"chart, then it will be posted on r/books and we'll get a flood of redditors shitting up the board. Then in a few weeks it will fade from popular memory and everything will return to normal. There's nothing to get excited about.
